My mind is a warrior,

My heart is a foreigner.

My eyes are the color of red like a sunset.

I was woken earlier than I would have liked Saturday morning by a shrill call. I banged my wrist hard on the bedside table as I groped for my cell phone. Finally, I answered it on the last ring with a not-so-sweet, "Hello?"

"Babe?" Josh's voice woke me up a little. I blinked, wiping at my face and adjusting my hair as if he could see me. "I'm sorry. Did I wake you?"

"It's okay, you kind of did." I stifled a yawn. "Is something wrong?"

"No, I'm okay. I just wanted to hear your voice."

I smiled. "Really?"

"Yeah. Do you want to come over?"

"Of course I do."

"All right." He started giving me the address, and I fumbled for a pen and a sheet of paper.

When I hung up, I untangled myself from my blankets and stumbled over to my closet. Hopefully I can find something decent while I'm still half-sleep.

Turning into the gated communities of Chicago, I realized with a jolt that Liam lived here too. Actually, this was Liam's house. Josh had just moved in.

The houses were massive, almost as big as Regina's. Greek columns, redbrick mansions, lush, green lawns. What the hell did Liam's parents do - own half of Illinois?

I slowed at a brick house at the end of the cul-de-sac. Two columns were in front, and the porch was giant. Near the back, I saw the wrought-gate protecting the backyard. Surprising me, I noticed a built, shirtless guy in the rock-lined pool near its own mini waterfall. The guy's shoulders were much too broad to be Josh.

"Hi, Liam," I said, blinking. He glanced up, smiling. He didn't look surprised to see me.

"Good morning, hun." Liam waved at me, pushing himself out of the water and walking to the edge of the gate. "Someone was excited to see you. Calling up here before eleven." He laughed.

I grinned back at him.

"He just ran out to the store for a minute. I guess he thought it would take you longer to show up."

"Oh. I'll wait then."

Liam opened the gate for me, then dove back into his family's pool. After staying underwater for a moment, he suddenly popped up. "So you and Josh are getting pretty serious, huh? He won't stop talking about you."

I ducked my head, flushing. "Really?"

"Yeah. He's really into you. He keeps talking about how amazing you are."

I gazed down at the wet rocks of Liam's family's pool, a tiny smile on my lips. "Wow. Honestly," I added. "I wasn't planning on getting serious with anyone for the longest time."

"Yeah?" He looked up, rubbing at his stubbled chin. "Why's that?"

I paused. I honestly didn't know if I should dive into the Harry drama with Liam, especially that this was one of my very first real conversations with him. Didn't want to scare him away. Or Josh, for that matter. "Just. You know. Harry. We didn't have the best break-up."
