I went through my day thinking about Chloe. When Emily passed me I couldn't help but let my mind wonder. After a few minutes I make myself stop.
I walk to photography class and enter the classroom. Most of the people were the same, but there was a new teacher.
Obviously.
He was a tall man, slender and lean. His skin was dark and reflected the light, his hair was short and puffy. When I walk in he turns to me and smiles a bright white smile.
"You must be Max!" He said. His accent was thick. It sounded Canadian.
"Yes. That's me." I said with a nervous smile. He walked up and shook my hand.
"Take a seat anywhere." He said motioning for me to take one. I nod and walk towards the back. Once I sit someone walks in.
I remember her from yesterday.
Emily.
Today she is wearing a red and black flannel with a white T-shirt. She looks around the room and when she makes eye contact with me she smiles.
And like yesterday I can't help but smile back.
She walks to my table and sits next to me.
"Hey Max." Emily said with a grin.
"Hi." I said with my everlasting smile.
"So you like photography?" She asks with her normal cheery voice.
"Yeah.. I have since I was little." I say. She simply nods. "What about you? When did you start?"
"Oh... About five years ago. Right before my mom passed she gave me a camera. I absolutely fell in love with it." She says.
"I'm sorry for your lost." I say, not knowing what else to say.
"Its okay. I learned to move on. Live life, I know that's what she would have wanted." Emily says shrugging it off. As I was about to say something the teacher spoke up.
"Good afternoon class." He says.
"Good afternoon Mr. Johnson." The class says in usion.
"I will be assigning a project. Everyone pair up." He says. I turn to Emily to see she's already staring at me.
"Want to be partners?" She says with a grin.
"Absolutely!" I say with a bit to much eagerness. She let's out a small laugh and smiles before turning to the front again.
My mind wondered as I stared at the front. I saw Mr. Johnson moving his hands and talking but I didn't listen. Someone hit my arm and I snapped out of my daze.
"Max come on!" Emily said with a bright smile. I got up and grabbed my backpack and headed out. Emily followed me to the front where I saw Chloe in her pickup truck, she saw me and smiled as she got out to run to me.
"Hey SuperMax!" She says leaning down and kisses me. I kiss her back and pull away after a few seconds.
"What you got planned for today?" I asked. A bright smile covered her face as she opened her mouth another voice chimmed in.
"Actually.. If you don't mind, you'll have to put those on hold, because Max and I have an assignment and we should jump right in. You know?" Emily said., her voice sweet and innocent. I looked at her and back at Chloe. Her smile dropped but she smiled again, but it didn't travel to her eyes.
"Yeah. I get it." She says to Emily. She then turns to me. "Call me if you need anything."
She leans down and kisses me again, but she is the one that pulls away this time. Before I say anything she turns and walks away, Emily drags me towards her dorm as I watch Chloe drive away.
