The next few days are amazing. I had never been to any of these kinds of places for fun. The one time I went to a place like this was for a mission. I hacked a rollercoaster and it killed the passengers. People the KGB wanted dead. Now I was the one riding them. I enjoyed every second of this trip, and I think Steve was amazed. He had never experienced anything like this. It was hilarious seeing his reactions to everything. The best was his reaction to the growth of Disney. He remembered seeing Snow White as a kid and was so impressed at how well Walt Disney had done.
Both of us are sad when it comes time to leave. We pack up our stuff on our last night. I look through the amount of pictures and laugh at the adventure we had. I thank Steve so many times. He always responds with a thanks for the list.
We talk about making another trip sometime when we aren't waiting for word from Fury. This time we plan on going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We've both heard some pretty interesting things about the Smoky Mountains.
The drive back feels slow and tired. I almost hate having to go home. Here I didn't have to worry about the mission or think about the Red Room. The heat of the moments we spent in Orlando covered it up, but now that we are coming back, everything hits me again. I remember I need to visit Rebekah soon. She will be wondering when I will visit. I plan on doing so tomorrow.
After thirteen hours of driving, Steve pulls up to my apartment and walks me to my door.
"This was fun. I'm so glad you helped me with this list," he says.
I nod. "I'm glad you decided to take me. Thanks Steve."
Steve leans in and kisses me softly. "I think I love you, Natasha."
I look into his eyes in surprise and fear. No one has ever told me that in my life. I have never know what it is to be loved. I thought I was too much of a monster to be loved. Yet here is Steve Rogers. Captain America. The embodiment of freedom, trust, and goodness in America. And he is telling me that he loves me.
"You're crying."
I wipe my face. "Sorry, I just..." my voice trails off.
His face changes. I think he gets it. "You- has no one told you that before?"
I shake my head. "You'd be the first."
Steve cups my face in his hands. "I love you, Natasha Romanov." He kisses me, but not before I can respond.
"I love you, Steve Rogers."
