The little girl is short and skinny. She has red hair like mine, and blue eyes. She wears a long gray t shirt secured with a belt, black leggings, and black flats that resemble point shoes as the ribbons snake up her legs. She stands frozen in place with her half loaded gun. Afraid.

"Hey there," I say. "What's your name?"

"Rebekah," she responds in a small voice. She understands English.

"How old are you?" I ask in Russian.

"Vosem'." Eight. "You speak Russian. You are with HYDRA?" she asks switching to English.

"No," I say. "We are here to rescue you. They have hurt you haven't they?"

She nods.

Steve cuts in, "We can take you away from this, but you're going to have to trust us. I promise you we will never hurt you."

Rebekah nods and finishes loading her gun. I pick her up gingerly. She smiles sadly. She probably hasn't been picked up in a long time. We walk out cautiously. We need to be on the lookout for more guards or assassins.

I ask her, "Where is your mother? Mamochka?"

Rebekah shakes her head. "Mama died. So did Papa."

We run through more corridors. I hold little orphan Rebekah close. "Do you have sisters or brothers? Any family?" I ask. I wonder if we can return her to them.

She shakes her head. She's alone. Tears fall down her face. She buries herself in my shoulder. I hug her with one hand. The other hand has a grenade. I activate it and throw it down the hallway we just ran. It explodes destroying the place. When we get far enough, I do it again destroying every room I can. I don't ever want this place to hold little girls again. I don't want anyone to ever see it again. Rebekah trembles in my arms. I see the doorway where the battlefield is and feel relieved. I run out the door and throw one last grenade into the building. The last of the rooms burst into flames.

"Nat, we can't bring her out here!" Steve yells over the roar of battle and flames.

"We have no choice! All our ships are over there!" I yell back. I look to Rebekah's scared face. "I need you to be brave now, okay? Just cover your eyes and it will be over before you know it."

Rebekah nodded and buried her face in my hair. Steve and I run through the snowy battlefield. I shoot at any soldiers of HYDRA who step into our path. Steve leads us through using his shield with my gun for backup. The distance between the helicopters and us shrinks little by little. We pass Thor battling some soldiers, and I realize how close we are.

Fifty feet away. We are fifty feet away. Suddenly I feel a shock of pain in my lower back. The force knocks me down to the ground. When I fall, Rebekah screams too. I touch the spot and realize that I've been shot. I can't get up.

"Nat!" Steve yells running to me.

"No! Get Rebekah," I croak.

Right when I say that, Thor flies in and grabs the now crying girl. He nods at Steve and flies toward the helicopter. Steve picks me up and carries me the rest of the way. With my help he gets us to the helicopter.

I look outside. HYDRA soldiers are dropping like flies. The Avengers, particularly Stark, Thor, and Banner, are huge helps in taking out the Red Room trained assassins. The Red Room is up in flames. Some HYDRA guards flee the scene. Others fight on. I don't see any more officers or captains or anything. I don't know if they are dead or just missing in action. I hope for the former.

Soon enough, the HYDRA soldiers are all dead or have retreated. The Avengers and soldiers pile back into the helicopters. Steve, Rebekah, and I are the only ones in ours minus the pilot. I hear the roars of the helicopter blades, and soon we take off.
