John's POV:

Max drives us to a gas station with Six trailing behind us. Six parks next to us and we all pile out of the van, which belongs to Sam's dad, Malcolm, who was one of our greeters when we first arrived to Earth.

I finish explaining that to Max as she parks in front of the gas station. She's a pretty good driver for someone who's never driven before, which Sam informed me on.

Six gets off her motorcycle and we all sit down on a few benches in front of the gas station and we all talk about ourselves. Max has an older brother and a dad, who are still alive surprisingly, and who are not Loric, but are human. That takes everyone aback, since that's basically impossible. No human has ever known about the Loric, much less have kids with one.

She also told us that her brother, Percy his name is, doesn't know that she's Loric. He doesn't know that she's from another planet or anything like that since they have the same father but different mothers.

Six told us that she lost her Cêpan, Katarina, during their capture in a Mog base in West Virginia. She was stabbed with a dagger, and that makes Max slightly flinch.

"Max, you alright, do you have a thing about daggers?" I ask, half joking.

She looks down and rubs the side of her neck where a scar the size of a dagger blade lays. I know I hit a soft spot, so I try to change the subject, though there's really nothing else to talk about.

"Sorry. Anyways, we need to find the other Garde," I tell everyone, glancing from Sam to Six to Max again.

"No, it's fine, I just....I got stabbed when I was twelve. I'm pretty sure you know what happened after that..." Max trails off. Yeah, I hit a soft spot.

"Who stabbed you?" Sam asks, though it sounds like it's hard to get out. I glare at him. No need to make Max feel worse.

"I don't know his name, but I know what he looks like," Max replies and there's a flash of anger in her eyes. She's definitely someone I would not want to get on my bad side or get angry at me.

We're all silent after that. We don't know what to say.

"Max, are you one hundred percent sure that that guy that you kissed back there isn't your boyfriend?" I ask her. What? I'm curious.

"I'm one hundred percent sure that he isn't my boyfriend," Max answers. My heart starts to pound rapidly, and I don't know why. Is it because of Max? No, I just met her today, I can't start liking her automatically, unless if I still have feelings for her after eight years. I remember having a secret, low-key crush on Number Two during our trip to Earth, but I never said or did anything cause I knew we'd have to leave each other eventually. But apparently, she felt the same way. I'm not sure if she remembers or not. She was the youngest out of all us, she probably doesn't even remember what the ship looked like.

But when I lived in Mexico, I had a crush on a girl named Tara, I know what it feels like, but this is different. This is stronger.

But whatever. Max obviously already has a guy on her mind, I bet she'd choose him over me any day.

"We have to find the other Garde," Six interrupts. We all nod our heads in agreement.

"How?" Sam asks, which is basically the hardest question I've ever been asked.

"Wait, if Max was resurrected, does that mean One and Three are alive, too?" Six asks. We all look at each other before Max, Six, and I check our ankles for scars. All clear, no scars.
