Me? And Kaytlin? Sisters? It was unbelievable. No, that was the wrong word. Impossible. It was totally and completely impossible.
Or was it?
Despite how ridiculous the idea was, there was a ring of truth to it. It almost made sense.
Could it be that we were really sisters?
Nah. It was impossible. He was an insane, bloodthirsty killer. A psychopath. Why should I believe a single word that he says?
"You don't really believe this, do you?" I asked Kaytlin.
She opened her mouth to answer, but then stopped. "I don't know. I mean it makes sense."
I let out a little laugh.
"You can't believe that story! It's ridiculous!"
Before Kaytlin could answer, a new voice broke into our conversation.
"I'm sorry you think so."
It was the kidnapper, who I had forgotten was still standing there.
"Maybe a little field trip would help convince you."
He stared at me with hate filled eyes. "Come. We're done here." He was still holding his gun."
I started walking cautiously towards the doorway. I looked behind me to see Kaytlin try to stand up, and then fall. She winced and rubbed her leg where she had gotten shot. I hurriedly rushed towards her and helped her stand up, putting one arm around her shoulder, and then helping her walk to the door.
"Thanks." She whispered.
"No problem, 'sister'." I answered with a hint of sarcasm in my voice.
"Hurry up." The psychopath growled. "I don't have all day."
I bit my tongue to avoid pointing out how ironic it was that he was telling us that, although we had never asked him to kidnap us. I would have said it to, if he hadn't been holding a gun.
He led us down the stairs and outside to the driveway where his large white van was parked. I helped Kaytlin in, and then got in myself. We drove for about fifteen minutes, before pulling up to a small fenced in yard. Our kidnapper opened the door to the trunk and let us out. I helped Kaylin out and followed the man.
We were about a block or so away from a park. I couldn't see it to well yet, but what I could see of it looked odd.
There were no trees in the park. Not one. All that was in the park were dozens of boulders and grass.
Who makes a park like that?
We continued walking towards the park, with me practically carrying Kaytlin the entire way. With each step my confusion grew larger and larger, while our captors smile grew wider and wider.
"Here we are." The man announced. "The destination of our little field trip."
My face paled as I realized the truth.
It wasn't a park we were at.
It was a graveyard.
"Umm... Sir?" Kaytlin asked.
"Yes?"
"What exactly happened to our 'real' parents after they killed your brothers?"
The man stopped and smiled at her.
"My dear, that's exactly what we're here for."
"Sir?"
He grinned maniacally as he gestured to the gravestones he had stopped in front of.
"I already took care of them."
I stared at the gravestones, horrified at what he was implying.
"You mean...."
He nodded smiling. "Now there's only one thing left to take care of."
He pulled out his gun.
"Now, it's your turn."
