chapter 7

The boys closed their eyes and concentrated. A ball of energy began to form in the center of their triangle. It was amazing. A flaming electrified ball of dust. They opened their eyes and starred at it in awe.

"What do we do with it?" Marc whispered.

"Let's shoot it into the sky." Acheron whispered back.

The boys looked up in unison and the flaming electrified ball of dust flew into the sky and exploded.

"I hope the adults didn't see that." Cayden whispered.

The adults stopped dead in their tracks.

"Oh my." Twilight gasped. They continued on reaching the boys as Cayden finished saying he hoped they hadn't saw it.

"See what, boys?" Tess asked with her hands on her hips in the 'your in deep trouble' fashion.

"Oh man." Marc said quietly.

"That was really something boys." Roman said smiling.

"Why did you lie to me when I asked you what you boys were up to?" Tess asked looking at Marc.

"We thought you would try to stop us." Acheron answered quietly with his head down.

"Yes, you're right, but only stopped you from doing it outside. It's dangerous for you boys to be doing this outside." Tess answered sweetly.

"Oh." The boys said in quiet unison.

"Come on boys. Let's go inside." Rylan said smiling to himself.

They boys walked passed the adults with their heads hung low.

"Well, I guess we can't put it off anymore. The time has come." Drake said with a hint of dread in his voice. The adults simply turned and followed the children back into the house.

Once everyone made it back into the living room, the boys sat down in the floor in their little triangle.

"Do you boys sit like that on purpose?' Tess asked finding a seat.

The boys looked at each other. "No." They answered in unison.

The rest filed in and found places to sit.

"Ok, let's see it boys. Show us everything you can do alone and together." Rylan said sternly, trying to keep the 'your punished' tone to his voice without laughing.

Cayden stood, knowing he would be first as he was youngest. He removed his gloves and closed his eyes. He created the dancing electric flame.

"Wow, it's beautiful." Twilight said as she reached out to touch it as it floated past her. She yelped. "It's real!" She laughed.

Cayden pulled his gloves on and sat down and it disappeared.

Marc stood to take his turn although it was supposed to be Acheron. Marc winked at Acheron and gave him a 'wait' look. He floated a book around the room, and then conjured a bouquet of roses into the mother's hands.

"They are divine. Thank you, Marc." Shadow said burying her face in her roses. Marc sat down and smile a little.

"Show off." Cayden whispered.

Acheron stood up and closed his eyes. He made the bouquets double in size, which made the women laugh. He opened his eyes and sat down.

"Now, let's see what you do together." Drake instructed. They boys stood up and grabbed each others arms like they had outside. They all closed their eyes and immediately a small rock appeared. It trembled a little then jumped into the air. It began to spin slowly, then caught fire, only it was a blue flame this time, and shot tiny lightening bolts around the room. The boys opened their eyes and smiled.

"It didn't do that earlier." Marc said stunned.

"Because I was the one trying to move it." Cayden answered.

"Now, boys, put it down without breaking or burning anything." Roman said smiling.

Cayden stopped the flames and lightening. Marc stopped the spinning and they all set it down on the floor.

"That's all. We didn't do anything else besides what you guys saw outside." Acheron said smiling.

"From now on, boys, you will practice in the bunker. You must have an adult with you at all times. Deal?" Tess said sternly looking each boy in the eye. The boys nodded vigorously and smiled.

"Good. Now go get ready for dinner." Twilight said. The boys ran upstairs whispering to each other frantically.

"Well, that was something." Rylan said pouring himself a drink.

"They are smart. They figured out how to combine their powers by themselves." Shadow said.

"Yes. Are we ready for this? I mean once they start they won't stop." Drake mused.

"We don't have much choice. Now that they've started, the pull to practice will be unstoppable. I just pray it takes them a few more years to reach full strength and control." Roman said shaking his head.

"Me too." Rylan said downing another blood brandy.
