"I wish you had not sent for him, love. He doesn't care for me much." Drake whispered.
"Well he will have to get beyond that. I don't know what they poisoned you with so I can't heal you. Just sip this a few more times then rest." Drake sipped one more time then closed his eyes. I lowered his head gently and headed back to get some more. The sky outside became very dark and windy. There was a loud crack that sounded like lightening strike and the sound caused me to miss a step.
"I'm very sorry, my lady." Said a deep, soft voice.
"It's okay. I'm getting used to it. Are you the healer?"
"Yes. What would you like me to do? It seems you are doing quit well on your own."
"I'm only slowing it down so it doesn't spread. I can't remove it. Please help him." I begged.
"Very well." The man turned and went to Drake's side. He put his hands over Drake's body, closed his eyes and held his breath. After only a few seconds he turned back to face me.
"He has been poisoned with iron shards. Probably from rusty blades. He will need a transfusion. This will not be easy. There are not many Demons of his kind left."
"What about me? I can give him some of my blood." I said quickly.
"No it would endanger the child. I need to take him back to our homeland. It's his best chance."
"Fine. Let us go then." I said walking towards him.
"I do not think you should accompany us, lady."
"You are not taking my husband anywhere without me." I answered hotly.
"You misunderstand me. While he goes through this he will not be himself. He may say or do things that would hurt you. There is no need for you to be there for that."
"I don not care. Drake is my husband, even if we never did the ceremony, and I will not leave his side for one minute. No matter what you say I am going, so let us go." I said putting my hands on my hips.
"As you wish. Take my hand and take a deep breath. This will not be pleasant for you." I hesitated only a second before reaching out to take his outstretched hand.
The next thing I remember was hearing voices whispering around me.
"She is beautiful for a human."
"Leave her be. The king has chosen her. That's all that matters. Hand me that rag, she's sweating again."
"Not like it really matters since she will be dead in a few months." I opened my eyes and tried to focus on the face next to me.
"Oh, my lady, I'm so glad you're awake. We were so scared. Roman should never have teleported you. Human's bodies cannot handle the strain. How do you feel?"
"I'm tired. Is the baby okay?"
"The baby is strong. So you think you can sit up?" I tested my arms strength. I collapsed back onto the bed.
"Could you help me?" The girl took my elbow and helped me sit up. I breathed through the dizziness that hit me like a ton of bricks, then turned my attention to the other girl in the room I assumed had been the one to make the snobby remarks.
"By the way, you should know that Drake and I will be married very soon. I suggest you decide how loyal you really are to him. That's right I heard you and you should also know I plan on being around for a very long time so you may as well get used to seeing my face." The girl blushed deeply and quickly left the room.
