Six Years Later
"Mom, please, we need to." Marc begged.
"I said I'll talk to your father and the others. Now get dressed for dinner." Tess said sternly. She walked down to the kitchen to help Twilight and Shadow finish preparing dinner.
"Marc has asked for the thousandth time if he and the boys could go outside." Tess stated as she entered the kitchen, rolling her eyes.
"They go outside all the time." Shadow said looking at Tess confused.
"I think the boys mean outside the safe area, dear, beyond the force field." Twilight giggled patting Shadows shoulder affectionately.
"Oh, goodness no! Why do they keep pushing that subject?" Shadow asked as she carried dishes to set the table.
"Because it's getting close. It's almost time and they feel the pull to go to 'him'." Roman said stepping into the dining room. Shadow jumped and almost dropped the plate she was holding.
"Ass!" Shadow yelled with a smile.
"I know that, smarty pants, what do we do about it?" Tess asked with her hands on her hips as only she could do.
"We tell them the truth; the whole story." Roman stated simply.
"I don't even think so. They are still babies, Roman. No! No way." Shadow answered shaking her head fervently.
"Shadow, the boys are sixteen, seventeen, and eighteen now. They are far from babies. We will discuss this after dinner, as a group, like we always do." Roman said, putting his hand up with finality. Shadow huffed and finished setting the table.
"Boys! Dinner!" Tess yelled at the stairs.
Dinner was quiet and tense. The boys ate slowly and couldn't seem to be still. Rylan, Roman, Drake, and John just watched them out of the corners of their eyes, while the women played with their food.
After dinner, the boys ran out to the bunker and the adults went into the living room. They all poured their respective drinks and had a seat.
"So, what's on the table tonight?" Rylan asked with a small grin twitching the corner of his lips.
"You know damn well what this meeting is about. What are we to do? The boys are becoming more insistent everyday." Tess growled throwing her hands up in the air.
"Yes, I am aware, my love, but what do we do? We can't keep them here forever. He will find them soon." Rylan said calmly taking Tess into a fierce hug.
"So that's it? We let them go?" Shadow asked almost yelling.
"No, we go after them. They've gone already. I can't reach Marc anymore." Rylan said letting go of Tess and turning to look around the room.
"Are you sure they can't follow us?" Acheron asked as they jogged.
"Yes. No. They will notice that we are gone, but not until we are far ahead." Marc answered. "I hope." He thought to himself.
"Great, so where exactly are we going?" Cayden said rolling his eyes at Marc.
"I don't know I'm just following my gut. Can't you feel it, the pull inside you?" Marc said looking back at the other two.
"Are you sure it's not gas?" Acheron said laughing.
"It's not." Marc said smiling. He knew Acheron was trying to calm everyone. "Now, be quiet, we need to hear and listen for the adults." He said stopping to look around, then went back to jogging.
