As night fell, each family carefully exited their vehicles and looked around. Shadow knew immediately that none of them were completely human.

"John, we have company." She whispered.

"I see that. Should we go be social or just kill them?" He asked smiling.

"Just kill...wait they each have babies. Let's go." She took off towards the carriages. John had to jog to keep up.

"Honey, please, slow down. Try to smile. Don't want to scare them." He said laughing. Shadow slowed and waited for John to catch up. She had already decided the vampires would be first. She watched as the female moved to stand in front of the male.

"Good." She growled quietly. "Hello, my name is Shadow and this is my soon to be husband, John. We didn't know others would be here." She said forcing a smile.

"Hi, my name is Tess. This is my husband Rylan and our son Marc. We were just as surprised as you." Tess said smiling back as then men shook hands.

"You're vampires." Shadow stated bluntly.

"Yes. Is that a problem?" Tess asked as her smile vanished. Shadow saw her stance shift just barely.

"Depends on why you are here." Shadow said.

Rylan took the chance to speak. "We are here because there are people after our son."

"Us too." Twilight called coming up between the women. "Hi. My name is Twilight and this is my husband Drake, our son Acheron and our friend Roman. We, too, are here to seek shelter and hide."

Everyone, standing in a circle, starred at each other. Tess broke the silence.

"I don't mean to be rude, but you guys seem a little out of place here." She said sweetly.

"Yes, it seems we had to cross through a time barrier to get here." Roman answered calmly.

"Cool." Tess said.

"Ok. This is getting up nowhere fast. We obviously all ended up here for a reason. We could at least try to make the best of it." John said pushing his fingers through his hair in exasperation.

"Agreed." Tess said.

"Agreed." Twilight chimed. "Let's get busy. We have only a few hours to make shelters and we are wasting time."

Tess whispered to Rylan. "What if we made the house bigger? We could all live in it together."

"I'm not sure that's wise. We don't know these people." He said looking cautiously around at the group of people before him.

"Oh posh! Hey everyone. I know we don't know each other, but I have an idea. We have a huge house in the carriage and I was wondering if you all would like to just live in it with us. There's plenty of room for everyone." She said smiling, careful to look at each woman in the eye.

"You have a house in that little bity carriage? Let's see it then." Shadow scoffed.

Tess ran to the carriage and got the house. She walked passed the group and headed into the canyon. She walked about thirty minutes, caught her breath, sat the house down, back up a good ways and closed her eyes. The house sprang to life and grew until the porch steps touched her toes. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled. She ran back to the others. Rylan smiled.

"Well that was impressive." Shadow said. John smiled and put his arm around Shadow.

"We're in." He said smiling. Shadow glared up at him.
