Talking With Dad

Derek: "Yeah. Of course. Wanna go out in the back yard or uhmm, is that...I mean are you okay with back yards yet or..."

Emma: "Dad, I'm good with any back yard that isn't moms. Sounds good to me. It is a nice day out and according to aunt Amy Seattle doesn't get many of those"

Derek: "Okay. Let's go"

*They go out to the back yard and sit on the patio at the table*

Derek: "So..?"

Emma: "So..? I wanna talk about this. About my living arrangements."

Derek: "Don't you like it here?"

Emma: "I do. I love it here. Just maybe not right now. Maybe for college. Please dad can we move to Boston? I need to finish out my high school career in Boston, at my school, with my friends and girlfriend, and team mates. Please?"

Derek: "Is that what you want? Will that make you happy? Because honey I just want you to be happy."

Emma: "Yeah it is. That would make me so happy. But what about you?"

Derek: Okay then after Thanksgiving break we're both going back to Boston."

Emma: "What about your job and your friends here"

Derek: "I can get a job in Boston, and I don't have many friends here. Besides your happiness is what is important to me right now. And like you said we can always come back to Seattle while you're in college."

Emma: "Do you mean that?"

Derek: "Of course I do."

Emma: "Thank you so much. I love you." *Hugging him*

Derek: *Hugging her back* "You're welcome sweetie. I love you too. I guess we better start house hunting for places in Boston huh?"

Emma: "Might be a good idea. Yeah. What do you want in a house?"

Derek: "Well what do you want in a house, you have to live there too?"

Emma: "ME? Well uhhm... maybe 4 bedrooms, with a connecting bath room in my bedroom,a nice size back yard, ohhhh and a pool would be nice. What about you?"

Derek: "I like all of that, also a basement and garage would be good."

Emma: "Sounds great dad."

Derek: "Yes. Yes it does." *Smiling* "And maybe something close to your school. So that I'm close by if you or Jessica ever need anything or wanna come to the house for lunch, or if you need to walk to and from school, while I'm at work."

Emma: "I'd actually like that a lot dad."

Derek: "Me too. Wanna go back inside."

Emma: "Yeah. Sure."

Derek: "After you mi lady." *smiling*

Emma: "I can see why mom fell for you."

Derek: "Why's that? "

Emma: "You're smart, funny, nice, charming, you have a nice smile, you're not bad looking ya know if you weren't my dad."

Derek: "You really think all of that sweetie?"

Emma: "Yeah dad, I do."

Derek: "Thanks honey"

Emma: "You're welcome dad." *getting inside*

Derek: "So what does everyone wanna do today"

Nancy: "I wanna punch that little sluts face"

Lizzy: "Me too. Can we go and find her."

Kathleen aka Kate: "No. No violence. My god. What is the matter with you people? I don't like her either but she is also our nieces mother. Whether we like it or not she is a part of our lives until Derek figures out this custody crap. And I don't know about you two but I happen to love and adore our niece. So get your crap together and get over yourselves."

Derek: "I couldn't agree with Kate more. I'm disappointed in the two of you"

Carolyn: "I agree with Derek. I'm disappointed in you both. I know me and your father raised you girls better than that"

Nancy and Liz: "Sorry Derek. Sorry mom"

Carolyn: "Damn right you are. Your father must be rolling in his grave right now because of this."

Derek: *hugging Amy at the mention of their dad* "It's okay Ames. I miss him too. Every day. And he would be so proud of me and you and how far we've come in life since his passing."

Emma: "Can I know stories about him? Since I never got to meet him. I wish I had though. What would I have called him?"

Carolyn: "He always said he was too cool to be called grandpa, and that he wanted to be called papaw(Pronounced pap-awe). He always felt he was too young to be his age. I loved that about him."

Kate: "He was an amazing father. We all loved him and enjoyed spending time with him."

Carolyn: "Yes he was. He loved to fish, especially fly fishing. He took your father every chance he could ever since your father was 3. They both enjoyed it and it got them out of the house full of crazy women."

Derek: "Yes I loved going with him, and getting away from all of you women, but I also loved growing up around all of you women."

Emma: "Why's that dad?"

Derek: "They taught me to respect, and love women, and how to be a gentleman."

Emma: "That is pretty awesome dad. I'm glad they taught you how to treat a woman. Maybe you can give me some tips so I don't screw up with Jessica."

Derek: "I would be happy to help honey."

Emma: "Great. I think I'm gonna video call Jess and tell her the good news."

Derek: "Yeah go ahead sweetie. Just don't take too long, so we can help Nana and you can visit with everyone since we're all here."

Emma: "Okay dad. Thank you." *Smiling, and kissing his cheek and then going to the other room and sending Jess a video chat request*
