Thanksgiving Morning! Part 1

*The next day. It's 8:30 in the morning and everyone is awake and helping make Thanksgiving dinner. Everything is going great and everyone is having fun and enjoying it *

Emma: "Hey dad? Is A- uhmm Dr. Montgomery gonna be here for dinner? Since she's your ex wife."

Derek: "I don't know sweetheart. Would you want her here?

Emma: "If she'll come then yeah."

Derek: "Can I ask why?"

Emma: " She's cool, and I like her. Plus she's super pretty and I'm jealous of her hair and clothes."

Derek: I'll go call her and see if she wants to come. But honey I don't want you to be disappointed or feel hurt if she doesn't want to or if she's busy working. Okay?"

Emma: "I get it dad. I won't. I've pretty much gotten use to people working holidays and special events in my life. It's what I've known all of my life because of mom."

Derek: " Okay sweetie."

*Kissing Emma's head and then going and calling Addison. Coming back to the kitchen*

Derek: "Guess what Em?"

Emma: "What dad?" *Trying not to laugh at him"

Derek: "I just got off the phone with Addison."

Emma: "Yeah! And...What did she say?"

Derek: "She said that she wouldn't miss a Shepherd Thanksgiving for anything."

Emma: "She's coming?? She's really gonna come?"

Derek: "She's really gonna come sweetheart. She even asked if she could bring anything. So mom if you could call her and talk to her about that, that would be great."

Carolyn: "I will DerBear."

Derek: "God mom. really. I'm not 5 anymore. DerBear isn't cute anymore. It's embarrassing."

Carolyn: "I'm your mother, I housed you in my body, my uterus for 9 long months just to be in excruciatingly painful labor for many hours, to push you out of a very small hole in my body, just for you to look like your father. Therefore I will call you whatever I want."

Emma: "Whoa. Dad, I think you just pissed Nana off. You in trouble now."

*Running upstairs to Amy and hiding out*

Emma: "You do not wanna go down to the kitchen.."

Amy: "Why not? Did somebody burn something? Are one of the girls complaining about something that Nana cooked? Haha."

Emma: "Worse."

Amy: "What could be worse than that?"

Emma: "Dad pissed Nana off. She's really laying into him. I've never seen anything like it, and it freaked me out so I ran the hell out of there as fast as I could and as soon as I could."

Amy: "Well how did he manage to do that?"

Emma: "She called him DerBear and then he started complaining about how he's too old to be called DerBear. And then she started in on him."

Amy: "He's an idiot for complaining. He knows how hard the holidays have been on her since our dad died."

*Several hours later everything has finally calmed down and Derek apologized to his mom*

*The doorbell rings when Addie shows up, Derek answers it*

Derek: "Hey, Thanks for coming. Emma is really excited to see you, and Nancy is ready to start gossiping more and talking about work. So take your pick."
