Thanksgiving Day Part 2!

Addison: "No. No we aren't. That ship has sailed and sank. Multiple times. I'm sorry. Me and your dad are just friends."

Emma: "I'm sorry for asking. It's okay. I get it. You didn't work as a couple. But I'm glad you guys can still be friendly. I like seeing him happy when you are around."

Addison: "Me too. He's a good guy who's been hurt"

Emma: "I guess me and him have that in common too."

Addison: "It's in the Shepherd genes. You're both very strong people. You'll get through anything life throws your way."

Emma: "Yeah. I'm ready to go back in. Is that okay?"

Addison: "Yeah. Of course. Are you okay?"

Emma: "Yeah."

*They go inside, clean up and change*
*Emma comes downstairs and starts snacking on the dinner*

Mrs. Shepherd: "Emma Grace Shepherd!"

Emma: "Nana?"

Mrs. Shepherd : "Get out of my dinner. It's not time to eat it  yet. I don't know who's worse you or Amelia.."

Emma: "Sorry Nana. I'm hungry. I worked up an appetite playing basketball with Addison."

Carolyn: "How did that go?"

Emma: "What, playing basketball with her?"

Carolyn: "Yes dear."

Emma: "It was really nice. It feels nice to be able to hang around all these women that are taking an interest in me and what I like."

Carolyn: "Well I'm glad we can provide that for you now. I'm just sorry that it didn't happen sooner. Every girl deserves to know what it feels like to do girly things with other girls."

Emma: "Yeah. But better late than never right?"

Carolyn: "Right. Sometimes I forget just how smart, and wise beyond your years you truly are."

Emma: "Me too. It surprises me sometimes."

*Several hours pass and it is finally time to eat dinner, everyone gathers around the dinner table*

Carolyn: "Now Emma before we eat it's a Shepherd family tradition to go around the table and say one thing we are thankful for this year, and one thing we look forward to in the next year."

*Everyone goes around the table sharing what they're thankful for and what they're looking forward to. At last it is finally Emma's turn*

Emma: "I am thankful to have had the opportunity to fly out here to Seattle and meet all of you. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you even more and forming bonds to last forever, including with Addison."

Everyone: "Amen!" *They dig in and begin to eat, and socialize. After dinner everyone offers to clean up and put away the food while Carolyn relaxes in the living room with her feet up since she cooked all the food.*

*Once everything is cleaned up and put away, everyone gathers in the living room and settles in to watch movies to end the night. Eventually everyone is too exhausted to stay up and continue to watch movies so they all part ways to go to bed and Addison leaves to go back to her place*

*While everyone else is in bed, Emma tosses and turns for 15 minutes. Finally having enough of it, she gets up, grabs her phone and heads to Derek's room. Where she knocks on the door*

Derek: "Come in." *Emma walks in, closes the door behind her and joins Derek in bed* "You okay sweetheart?"

Emma: "Can't sleep. Is it okay if I sleep in here with you?"

Derek: "Of course it's okay. But why can't you sleep?"
