Jessica?

*Emma runs down the stairs excited*

Emma: "She's on her way and she's very excited to meet you. But please be nice to her. She's nervous to meet you. And please don't embarrass me in front of her."

Derek: "Ye of little faith Em. I would never embarrass you and I am a very nice, and friendly man."

Emma: "But this is my girlfriend and I really care about, and love her and I can't lose her."

Derek: "Well then if she cares about you and loves you like you do for her than she shouldn't have a problem with me."

Emma: "I hope so dad. I really hope so. Christmas is coming up, you had  11 Christmases with Addison. Can you help me find something special and meaningful to get for Jessica?"

Derek: "I would love to help you. Do you have any ideas for what you wanna get her or for what she likes?"

Emma: "She's very easy to please. Which also makes it hard to find something good enough to give her. I was thinking maybe a ring or a necklace or something like that."

Derek: "What about a charm bracelet and then you can keep adding charms to it for different occasions. Like Valentine's gifts, her birthday, anniversary. I think that would be such a sweet and romantic thing to do for her."

Emma: "You are a genius dad. That is perfect. I can start it off with the different sports we play together since that's how we met and got to know each other. Ya know before we even started dating. That's how our friendship grew and then the friendship grew into a relationship and it's the best decision I have ever made. Besides going against mom's back and tracking you down and meeting you that is."

Derek: "I know honey, I understand and it's okay that you feel that way. I'm glad that you do. And you should put the decision to date Jessica above meeting me, but only because you've known her longer and she has been there for you when I wasn't able to be."

Emma: "Seriously dad how are you still single? You are like the perfect man. Any woman, or man, would be lucky to have you in their life."

Derek: "Thanks Emma. When were you thinking of going Christmas shopping?"

Emma: "I have not thought much about when yet. All I know is I wanna go sooner than last minute, I hate last minute shoppers and by then all of the good gifts are gone."

Derek: "I agree with you there. Maybe we can go one day next week? If you're not busy with sports, or school stuff?"

Emma: "Yeah. Sounds good dad. Just let me know what day works for you."

Derek: "Okay. How about Wednesday after school?"

Emma: "That works. I'm free that day."

Derek: "Great. I'll pick you up from school and we can go to the mall straight from there?  How's that sound?"

Emma: "Sounds perfect to me dad. Hey dad, can I ask you about something"

Derek: "Yeah. Of course."

Emma: "Mom and Lexie have talked about...

*Just then the doorbell rings*
