*While Emma and Derek's sisters are bonding on a day out in Seattle. Back in his office*

Carolyn: "So Meredith, you must be Derek's intern?"

Meredith: "What does that have to do with anything?"

Derek: "Yes she was my intern, that I fell for when I shouldn't have."

Carolyn: "I'm just trying to get to know my granddaughters mother. "

Meredith: "Yeah. Well no offense Mrs.Shepherd but don't."

Derek: "Meredith! You don't get to be rude to my mother. Its not my fault that none of us knew about her. That is completely your fault. I should have known her. I should have been involved in her life. But believe me when I say that from now on I will be in her life 1000000%."

Meredith: "I never wanted you in her life. We didn't need you in our lives."

Derek: "Bullshit Meredith. She needed me in her life from day one. I am her father. A little girl needs her father in her life."

Meredith: Why so you could hurt her like you hurt me?"

Derek: "I didn't mean to hurt you Meredith. That was never my plan. I fell in love with you while I was married. It was a very complicated situation. And now because of that you are not only punishing me but our daughter as well. That's not fair to Emma."

Carolyn: "He's right Meredith."

Meredith: "He hurt me. How am I the bad guy in all of this?"

Derek: "When you kept my daughter away from me for 15 years."

Meredith: "You don't get to keep using that against me."

Derek: "I can. And I will. Just like I will fight you and win full custody of Emma. Any sane judge will see that I'm a better parenting choice than you are."

Meredith: "Why are you doing this to me Derek? She is all I have. I'm still single. I never got married. Emma is the only child I have. And you wanna take her away from me. That's not fair to me."

Derek: "You don't even deserve to have her as your daughter. She is amazing. You're never there. You're always at work. You should be spending as much time at home with Emma as possible. That's what a good mother would do. And you have proven that you are not a good mother. How could you not notice anything was wrong with her?"

Meredith: "I don't know. She never talks to me."

Derek: "You'd have to be home long enough for her to be able to talk to you. Which you aren't."
