Ship suggestion by @gamecraft69. Luke is a "bit" of a yandere in this story, so I hope you're okay with that!
___________________________________________________The lavander haired assassin sat up in the trees, carving into the bark with his small kunai knife. He was here for one reason... Grayson. Spies had reported seeing the dragon egg thief around this area, so Luke was the first that was willing to take him out. He didn't hate Grayson, in fact, it was quite the opposite.

Luke finished the carving by putting a heart around it. He laid down on the wide branch, satisfied with his work. He let out a deep breath as he closed his eyes, remembering the old times he used to spend with Grayson. A smile spread across his masked face. It was a shame that Grayson had to be killed, but he never did or will ever return Luke's feelings. It hurt knowing that fact, but he wouldn't let anyone have his Grayson but him.
He sat up, putting his kunai away and grabbed the bow equipped on his back. Footsteps pressed against the mud and puddles on the ground, getting closer and closer to the assassins location. He looked passed the leaves, gasping when he saw his old love.
He looked good in a new cape and hat. His beard a bit longer and fluffier, but he looked exhausted. Looking closer, Luke could see a few bleeding wounds on his body. Two mercenaries followed behind the blonde, firing arrows at him as he ran. Luke growled as he readied arrows into his own bow, and pulled back the string to fire."If anyone kills my Grayson, it's going to be me." He mumbled, before releasing the string.
The two arrows flew through the air, striking the mercenaries in their heads, instantly killing them. Grayson gasped, holding his sword tight as he looked around for whoever shot the arrows. Before he knew it, a third arrow fired out from the trees, hitting him in his shoulder. Grayson screamed before he grabbed, ripping it out of his skin.
Luke pushed himself out from his cover behind the leaves, landing on one knee onto the muddy ground. He looked up, a smile still hidden behind his mask."Grayson! I missed you! Well, I guess not." Luke joked, gesturing to bloody arrow that now laid on the ground.
Grayson let out a growl, holding up his sword to prepare to fight. He wasn't aware of the assassin's true feelings for him. He didn't know that those feelings were exactly why his wife and son were dead.
"It really is a shame it has to end this way, but no one else can have you. Clara, that hybrid...no one." Luke said, holding his sword up as well.
Grayson scowled, wondering what exactly his old friend was talking about. One word that did hit him hard, was the name of his deceased wife. What did she and Drake have to do with anything? He growled again, fighting back tears. Luke had betrayed him and had gotten his family killed. He thought it was all for money, but he was clueless of Luke's true ambition was on the dark night.
"It's been awhile. I still can't believe you actually accepted the mission to kill me. You really are a worthless traitor."
Luke's heart stung from his words; his smile fading. "I did it for you, Grayson." He said pushing himself to his feet.
Grayson took a step back, filled with confusion. "Wh-what?" He whispered, out of breath.
Luke closed his eyes and pulled down his mask, his smile coming back. "I did it for us."
His eyes opened, giving a dark glare with his orange and blue eyes. He started chuckling, making the blonde feel uneasy. This was completely different from the Luke he had known before the betrayal, or even after.
He shook his head, and charged, not wanting to talk any longer. He just wanted to kill this traitor. Luke swung his blade at Grayson's, retaliating his attack. Grayson swung again, successfully cutting into Luke's arm. He didn't notice the tears coming out of his opponents eyes, not from the pain of his injury.
They continued attacking each other, both equally skill, until Luke finally found an advantage point. He pulled out last kunai and thrusted it at Grayson's chest. For a second, time seemed to slow down for the two as the blade pierced into Grayson's chest, barely missing his heart. Grayson coughed up blood, as the blade was pulled out of his body.Luke swirled the knife on his fingers. "Sorry, darling."
Grayson's body fell down, eyes wide that this was happening. So this was the end? He looked up, chocking on his own blood as Luke got down on his knees beside him. He couldn't even avenge his family by killing the assassin or the emperor. Tears slipped out of his eyes from that knowledge, and the the intense pain in his body.
Luke looked down at him, his cheeks covered in tears, but his eyes wide with lust. "If I can't have you..."
He leaned down, placing his lips on Grayson's bleeding mouth. His hand moved below Grayson's head, not letting him move to rip their lips apart from each other. Luke felt ex-commanders lips grow cold, and his body go limp. He pulled away, spitting out Grayson's blood as he looked down at his glazed over emerald eyes.
"...Then no one can."
He put my other arm under the dead Grayson's legs and lifted him up. He smiled down at the body, tears running down his face again. His eyes were pretty, even when lifeless. He began walking down the path, stepping on the mercenaries bodies as he walked by them.
"Now we can be together, my precious Grayson!" He said, rubbing the corpses blonde hair, his tears falling on its cold cheeks.
"No one can get between us now!"
