Chapter Four

Unexpected Encounters

In her sixteen years of living in the Haven Territory, Harmony had never really been in the pack house, only a few times for meetings but that was about it. After training the team were lead to their rooms which consisted of guest quarters in the Pack House with Shane and Michael in one room and Mackenzie and Harmony across the hall though the rooms were more like suites, The room consisted of two separate areas, one be the living area of a sort of contemporary design with bright white ways, lightly tanned carpeting and two light brown loveseats, matching chairs set in the center of the room around a large flat screen with a simple glass coffee table. The floor rose up by the large window overseeing the forest where a tall, round table stood with three barstools, a glass vase held a beautiful white orchid in the center of the table. Towards the back were two closed doors that led into two identical rooms both of which overlooked the vibrant colors of the garden in the back of the large house. Each room had a single twin sized bed with dark wooden frames and matching nightstands beside them with a tall shelf filled with various trinkets,

“Thank you, Alpha Haven. The room is wonderful,” Kenzie said formally as they brought their bags into the room.

Harmony was staring out the window by the dining area, she found herself mesmerized by the majestic view of the towering pines stretching down the mountain. In all her years living here, she had never been permitted to this particular area of the pac house as it was for guests, she had never seen the area behind the house either. It was staring out the window that she could see how vastly large the Haven Territory truly was as she gazed out at the thick forest dipping down along the mountain, the glimmers of the lake hidden in the trees reflected the like of the sun. The sound of someone clearing their throat startled her from her daze and she turned to see Archer staring at her expectantly.

“It’s, uh, lovely, Alpha Haven. Thank you,” she mumbled, returning her gaze to the window. “The garden is beautiful,” she said, looking out one of the bedroom windows.

“It’s a sort of community garden for the pack. Everyone pitches in when they can,”

Her lip switched at the statement of mutual companionship that had hardly existed when she was present but nodded silently in response. Even though she had averted her gaze elsewhere, she could feel his heated stare on her.

“Are there any restaurants you would recommend for us,” Kenzie asked which made her smile. Even on the job, food was usually her main priority.

“Not necessary, Agent Jenner,” Archer said firmly. “You are my guests and will dine with us tonight. Dinner will be served around six o’clock and you are of course free to help yourself to anything in the kitchen during your stay here.”

Kenzie and Harmony turned to meet one another’s gaze while knowing smiles of delight at the topic of free food.

“That’s very kind of you, sir. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have a bit of unpacking to do,” Kenzie said politely, gesturing to their bags.

He nodded and glanced at Harmony once more before taking his leave.

“I call this room,” Kenzie cried out as she ran into the room on the left.

Harmony smiled and shook her head as she made her way to the room on the right. The room itself was nice enough, it was a simple room with clean white walls with thin, light blue curtains hanging over the tall, white framed windows with the bright sunlight streaming through the see through curtains; the room was the corner of the house which meant two windows occupied two of the walls. The twin sized bed was dressed in a thick white comforter with elegant blue swirls and various designs stitched into the fabric with a long dresser beside it against the wall that shared the same design. A white bookcase filled mostly with various trinkets and small collections of books beside them, stood tall nearly reaching the ceiling on the other side of the room with a white oak desk beside it, The set up reminded her much of a Jane Austen films.
