Epilogue
“You weren’t supposed to kill Archer! I only wanted revenge on Harmony!” I roared at Robert.
Since Harmony and Archer had found his little warehouse hide out, we had to relocate to an abandoned factory a couple towns over.
“And you have your revenge. Her mate is dead. Nothing is more painful than that and I should know.” He said pulling a sheet off a machine to see what was under it.
Yes but. . .” I hadn’t wanted Archer dead. I didn’t even want Harmony dead really. Wed never gotten along but she's still a person and it’s wrong to kill.
I felt my eyes grow moist and I blinked my threatening tears away.
Archer is dead. . .
“Look, if you're going to be in this line of business involving revenge, you're going to have to kill. I understand you're a pampered spirit and don’t believe in killing but you have to now.” He said yanking another sheet off a machine.
“What are you doing?” I asked narrowing my eyes as he crossed the room with a satisfied grin.
“I’m looking for a table.” He said tearing a sheet off another covered figure to reveal a wooden table.
“What, why?”
He remained silent as he grabbed his kit and placed it on the table.
I walked over, curious as he pulled out a syringe and gaze at it.
“What's that?” I asked.
“This,” he flicked the needle top of the syringe. “Is my greatest creation. This is what I use to make my . . . zombies.” he said the last word almost like he was disgusted. Not with the concept but with the actual name. He probably expected people to have a more intelligent name for his monsters.
I swallowed. “Do you . . . plan to make more?” I had yet to see the process of making them but I don’t want to!
He turned to me with a glint in his eye. “When this is injected into a dead body, it is reanimated but when injected into living flesh. . .” he turned fully towards me and I instantly took a step back, horrified.
He wants to inject that into me!
“No!” I exclaimed.
He sighed. “Look, you hardly managed to survive that little fight with that Alpha and he was going easy on you! If you want to survive then you need to be stronger and I can tell you have the perfect genetic structure to handle the mutation.” He stepped forward and placed his hand on my shoulder. “This is how you survive. You want to live don’t you?”
That’s a no brainer. “Yes.”
“So do I.” then I felt a burning penetration on my form arm followed by a fiery sensation running up through my veins.
