After we finished eating we continued to roam the mall. Multiple guys approached Kenzie and I but Archer's protective arm around Marissa kept them from her. I noticed she looked annoyed by this. After a perverted guy touched my butt, I first nearly broke his arm then Darren put his arm around my shoulder and glared at every guy that dared to look in my direction.
I thought it was a very sweet gesture and I felt bad for Kenzie but she and Brendon were soon engulfed in their own conversation and seeing her attention directed to another guy, the rest were kept at bay.
I like Darren. A lot. He makes me laugh when I’m upset and he cares for me. He cared before too. He was one of the only ones who did. He protects me like no one else ever did. Besides my team.
But I’m afraid to get attached. I wasn’t lying when id said my job was a life time gig. My pack is 2 hours away from here; I could never be with Darren besides I doubt he feels the same way.
Although my wolf hasn’t said a single word about Archer or him "belonging to me" a tiny part of me didn’t want Darren's arm around me but Archer's. But that’s a microscopic part of me, the stubborn part that refuses to give up Archer so easily.
That part of me better die soon. I thought grimly.
"Hey lighten up. Those pervs finally left you alone." Darren said squeezing my shoulder.
"Oh I wasn’t thinking about that." I smiled at him. "But thank you. I would’ve ended up killing that guy that thought it was ok to actually touch me. I mean who does that?!"
"Well those guys should know when something belongs to someone else." he muttered.
