When the wind started blowing and the rain started pouring the sky turned into the ultimate color of black. Dark clouds had formed above the city of Los Angeles and even though Winter had just begun, it was already cold outside. For weeks after our little encounter I had wondered if he would still be out there, even when it rained. If the boy at the bus would still be standing there with only his T-shirt on, nothing to protect him from mother nature. Those thought however quickly became unimportant to me and they started fading until Dylan was completely vanished from my mind. If I'd been aware of the things that I know now I would've known that Dylan doesn't just vanish. He's like a bloodsucker. He grabs onto you and never lets go. He brings pain and pure ecstasy at the same time. But I wouldn't know that until it was too late to run away from him.
It was about a month after I first met Dylan and I had mostly forgotten about him. Christmas was around the corner and the bar I worked in was crowded with people who searched for shelter against the cold. My brother, the owner of the bar meaning he was also my boss, kept shouting at me and it made me angry. He was nervous because of how crowded it was in here, I was aware of that. The holiday hustle had lured so much people into The Blue bird that every seat was taken and some people even had to stand up. It was always like this around the holidays but Mike never learned to deal with it. So I ran from table to table, from group to group and did everything I could not to forget an order or drop a glass. Mike sat, in the meantime, with his hands in his hair whilst staring into nothing.
"Hey dude." I said while starting on the order of four college girls. "I know you've got a lot on your head right now but can you give me a hand? That would be quite helpful." Mike looked up at me, stared into my eyes and then eventually got off his lazy ass.
"I'm sorry." He murmured and then took the note - on which I had scrabbled the orders -from my hands. He scanned over it with his eyes and then started on a drink. I noticed he was a little off - more than usual - so I put the glass I was holding down and laid a hand on his shoulder.
"It's gonna be alright Mikey." I said. "Another six hours and they are all gone."
"It's not just that." He replied and I lifted my eyebrow. "I tell you another time." And with those words we sort of just went on with what we were doing. He made some drinks. I took orders, brought them and cleaned the glasses. The evening went on and around eight a very familiar guy walked into the bar. My eye grew wider and I smiled when I saw the lad with dark hair - almost black - walk over to me.
"Alex!" I shouted. Alex was a very handsome man. He had the darkest curly hair you can imagine and piercing blue eyes. He had just the right amount of muscles and was incredibly smart. Alex, however, was also the gayest person you can imagine. He leaned over the bar to kiss my cheek.
"Hi gorgeous." He greeted me. When he pulled back my eyes landed on the bandage around his arm.
"What happened to you?" I asked, pointing to the injury.
"One of my patients bit me." He growled. Alex was a psychiatrist. He had been for about five years now and he worked with the criminally insane.
"Again?" I gasped. "That's about the third time this month!" He nodded.
"Yeah I asked Gary," Alex' boss, "to transfer me to another department. I need to think about myself and the risks I'm taking." I nodded my head, patiently listening to him. "So instead of working with the criminal psychopaths they let me treat the normal psychopaths." I laughed and so did he. "It's not what I wanted but it's better... Hey I haven't eaten yet. Wanna grab dinner with me?" I glanced at Mike who was nervously standing behind the counter.
