[Have been thinking about a good person to 'play' Jess and I finally figured out what she should look like. Tess Christine (Youtuber, beauty guru) is perfect!]
It was a couple of minutes before eight. I nervously sat on my couch in my tight blue dress with my legs crossed over each other, heels dangling on my feet. I now and then glanced at the clock and time went by insanely fast. I was scared. I did not know what to expect. I did not know how tonight would go or if I would even make it back here. Paranoid thoughts filled me up and I imagined all kind of crazy things happening. I had my pocketknife in my purse. Not that I'd ever actually be able to hurt him but it was just in case. In case he was a murderer and a rapist. Stop it Jess! I sighed. He could be here every second. I nervously bit my lip. My hands were sweating and trembling. The second-hand on the clock ticked fast. And when the hand hit exactly eight o'clock the doorbell rang. I jumped up from the couch, startled. I gaped at the intercom and with trembling hands I took the phone.
"H-Hello?" I asked.
"Jess. It's Dylan." His voice said, sounding a bit robotic.
"I'll be right there." And with that I put the phone down. I grabbed my purse and coat from the kitchen table and then closed the door behind me. Every step I took made me feel nauseous. My stomach ached and my hands were sweaty. Pull yourself together Jessica, I told myself. It will be just fine. I opened the front door of my apartment building. There he was and the sight of him caught me off guard. He wore a dark navy suit with a white shirt underneath it. His hair was perfectly styled instead of the brown mess and for once he didn't have dark circles under his eyes. I knew he was a handsome lad but right now, as he was standing right there in front of me, he was enchanting. I immediately saw him as the boy in his Facebook profile picture. What had happened to him? He smiled at me and stuck his hand out.
"You look gorgeous." He said. His eyes sparkled and for once he didn't look at me in a vulgar way. I nervously bit my lip and felt my cheeks heat up. I took his hand in mine and he helped me down the stairs. I was thankful for that. High heels and icy steps were not the best of friends. He guided me to his car and then pulled out his keys. "I'm a bit embarrassed to ask..." He started. "But could you drive?" I lifted an eyebrow. "I'm actually not allowed to." He explained. I wanted to ask what he meant by that but I was afraid he might lash out for me interfering with his private life. So I took the keys from him and got into the drivers seat. Thank the lord I could drive in heels, a skill not many young women had. Dylan showed me the way and I carefully manoeuvred through the streets until he made me stop right in front of a series of houses. He got out, opened the door for me and then guided me inside. We hadn't said a word to each other. I was afraid to start a conversation and he... well I didn't really know what his excuse was. He led me up the stairs and grabbed the keys to door 34 out of his pocket.
"Is this your place?" I asked, wondering where we were. I hadn't given much thought to where we were going until I was standing in front of the pale green door.
"Yeah." He said and I didn't know if I was happy with the place he'd chosen for our date. It was better than a forest or a lake, I've to say that. If anything were to happen here I could still scream and maybe someone would hear me. But then again he had the key to every door in this house. He could lock me up easily. I rolled my eyes at myself. Why was I being so paranoid? Alright Dylan wasn't completely sane but he had never done anything to hurt me. If anything he'd only tried to be nice. In his own fucked up way, that is. He finally figured out how to unlock his own door and opened it for me. I walked in and suddenly I felt his touch. Carefully he placed his hand on the small of my back, to guide me in. It felt strange but it didn't make my heart stop. He walked me through the small hall. "Can you wait here for a second?" He asked. I nodded my head. "Close your eyes." And I did. I heard him walk off and patiently I waited. It took him a couple of minutes to come back. When he carefully took my hand in his I instinctively opened my eyes. "No." He said. "Not yet. Close them again." I obeyed. I held onto his hand a bit tighter as he walked me further down the hall. I hated walking in heels without knowing where I was going. "Okay before you open your eyes," He started. "If you hate it, just tell me. I've got a plan B."
