"Hey Ponyboy," I smiled and sat down next to him on the couch. Since yesterday when that car full of Socs decided to trail me, my dear old brother, started talking smack about socs. It was funny to be honest. Which reminds me, I should visit Dal. He's probably at Buck's.
You're probably wondering why I'm living in the Curtis Household and not with my brother. Well, since my brother doesn't own or rent any kind of house, the state can't really put me in Dally's full care and considering the fact that he's not really that responsible. Since I have no other living relatives other than my brother, I got put into a girls home for a good few days until Dally actually went and talked to the judge to convince him to put me into his and Darry's care. The court decided to put me into the conjoined care of Darrel Curtis and Dallas Winston. Trust me, I was beyond happy when I found that out because Darry has kinda been like another brother, maybe even father figure to me. Now, Darry and Dallas have conjoined custody over me. Dally brings in some dough every month to help pay the bills and even though Darry insists he doesn't have to do that but I'm pretty sure Darry just says that to be modest.
I got up and went inside my room. I grabbed a pair of dark washed jeans, some black pair of beaten up Converse, and a tight Mickey Mouse tee, and topping my outfit off with a leather jacket. Walking out of my room, I passed by Pony, who I saw eyeing me up and down. I smirked and rolled my eyes. "Hey Darry, I'll just visit Dal at Buck's!"
"Alright, but bring Pony with you. I don't want you walking by yourself since the socs want to cross borders now." Darry said, walking out of his room. "And I don't want you guys hanging out around Buck's too long."
"Alright, let's go Ponyboy." I waved to Pony who jumped out of his seat.
As we were walking, Ponyboy breaks up the comfortable silence between us. "So have you finished Gone with the Wind yet?" He asks, kicking a rock to the side.
"Yeah, I like it." I said with a small smile on my face.
Silence once again, but I don't mind. This is nice. Since I'm not a big fan of pouring out my emotions and all. On the way to Buck's, we walked by Johnny's house.
Yelling.
That's all we heard from that damn house. "I wonder where Johnny is," Ponyboy said, starting to get agitated.
Suddenly, the front door slammed open. Our heads shot up to see Johnny clutching his arm. He sat down by the steps on his porch, still not noticing us.
"Hey Johnny Cake, come here." I opened the gate and sat by Johnny. I hugged him as I hear a few sniffles from Johnny. Pony crouched in front of us.
"Wanna get outta here?" I whispered gently. Johnny nodded and stood up. Ponyboy and I exchanged looks and walked with him.
"Where y'all going anyways?" Johnny asked after five minutes of silence. The sound of our shoes scraping against the pavement drowned out.
"Buck's, we were just gonna visit Dally." Ponyboy replied.
We finally arrived at Buck's but I didn't bother knocking. I just walked in and up to my brother's room while Pony and Johnny stayed behind.
I slammed the door open, not bothering to knock to see Dallas passed out cold in his bed. I chuckled and sat at the edge. I poked him gently and cooed, "Wake up Dal." He groaned but didn't wake up. I rolled my eyes, he was always been a heavy sleeper. "Dal wake up, man." I said but this time, I'm now jumping on his bed.
"What the hell," I heard Dally mumble. I grinned as I jumped more and more.
"Good morning sleeping beauty!" I sang and continued jumping.
"Oh shut up!" Dally laughed and tackled me to the ground. Then in a second, we were wrestling. It sucks when your older brother is stronger, taller, and more heavier than you. "Promise me to stop waking me up!"
"Never!" I yelled and got out of his grasp. I took a deep breathe and fell down at his bed.
"Why'd you wake me up anyways?" Dally asked, yawning and walking towards the bathroom.
"Mostly to annoy you," I replied back, staring at the ceiling.
"Shut up, I know you still have another reason." Dally said, rolling his eyes. He walked out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in his hand. "Tell me the other reason."
"I don't know man, I'm just getting annoyed and annoyed every time I see a soc in our territory and I know some of these days someone's gonna get hurt real bad, maybe even get killed." I said nonchalantly, shrugging my shoulders.
"Someone's gonna get hurt, but killed? Maybe, I don't know Rile." Dal said, with a toothbrush in his mouth. My face clearly gave Dally the expression that talking with his toothbrush in his mouth was slightly disgusting since the toothpaste was getting everywhere.
"Whatever man," I laughed. "See ya later, love you bro!" I yelled and started walking back downstairs where Johnny and Pony are.
"Love you too sis!" I smiled.
"Alright, let's go." I said and slung my arms between Johnny and Pony. For some reason, I was kinda feeling good about this day.
