"i'm maya."

my legs wobble at the mention of that name. she could be lying, using a part of my memory that i can't grasp against me.

being a demon must have been a versatile thing, since she can morph into a variety of appearances. she could be playing with my mind and i'm oblivious.

"no," is my only remark. "you are not maya. you can't be." i keep on doubting as i stare at the floor, feeling myself getting flustered.

i can feel my knees getting weaker as i take a few steps back, almost collapsing when i realize that i'm backed up into a corner.

"how could you, michael. you don't remember your own dead sister." she scowls, a sinister look taking over her features. "i told you to come with me and you forget about me!" her eyes are glowing with malevolence, her tone malicious.

"you were never even real! i'm an only child, maya! i created you in my mind so i didn't have to feel alone!" i shout as my knees are pulled into my chest.

i can feel the hot tears streaming down my face whilst my hands move to cup over my ears. i refuse to believe she's maya. she's a monster, and she's not real.

"but you killed me, michael!" she changes into her terrifying state in the blink of an eye. a filthy hospital gown covers her pale, bluish skin as her long black hair drapes over her shoulders.

"you're not real!" i shout the same three words repeatedly with my hands covering my ears. my screams swallow me whole and i shut my eyes tightly to avoid looking at her.

the metal door screeches as someone opens it. i hear a female voice speaking and know that it must be one of the nurses. but the voice stays at the door while another person heads my way.

i'm too afraid to look up but a light tap on my shoulder startles me. almost instantly, i lift my head up in a slow pace only to be met with curious hazel eyes.

"ashton?"
