War
I'm coming home, I'm coming home, tell the world I'm coming home.
Jerome sighed, and fished the picture of his love out of his pack. Mitch's grinning face starred up at him, and the worn man brushed off the few raindrops that fell on the picture.
"Hey, come on dude, time to go." Jerome glanced up one of his comrades, nodded and slipped the picture back in his bag, and shouldered his gun.
Let the rain wash away the pain of yesterday
Mitch glanced over at the mantle, and felt pain ripple through his chest, the feeling having become familiar over the months that he'd been gone. Jerome, his love. Mitch wrapped an arm around his waist, and picked up the picture. The two of them had their arms slung around the other, grins stretched across both their faces. Mitch sniffled, wiping away the tears before replacing the picture, and crawling back under his sheets.
I know my kingdom awaits and they've forgiven my mistakes
Jerome blanched at the sight of another dead man, one he'd killed. The first time he had to kill someone, he almost puked. Guilt ran through his blood every time he shot the gun, and every time a man fell. He took a deep breath, and aimed. His shot rang true, and the enemy in front of him fell.
I'm coming home, I'm coming home
"Mitch?" A voice called out, and the broken man looked up. Sky and Ty stood in the doorway, hands entwined. His heart broke even more, but he pasted a smile on his face and stood.
"What's up doods?" He asked, voice cracking from misuse.
"We're going out for some poutine, want to come?" Mitch shook his head. They'd moved to Canada to keep an eye on Mitch, Sky, Ty, Ian and Quentin who drove down once a week. Preston called him a lot, asking about videos, same with Rob and Mat, he denied every one. His channel had been dead for a while, but everyone knew why. Both he and Jerome had posted a video right before Jerome left, explaining what was going on, and why there were going to a lack of videos on Jerome's end.
"Nah, I'm okay." Ty let go of Sky, and sat on the bed, narrowing his eyes at Mitch. Mitch groaned and buried his head in the pillows. "Don't do the stare face." He grumbled out, glancing up at the two.
"Mitch you aren't fine. Every since he left, you haven't left your house, only to get food." Sky protested, standing behind Ty.
"But I don't want to, everything reminds me of him."
Still far away, from where I belong, but it's always darkest before the dark
Jerome threw his arms up, shielding his head from flying shrapnel. Why did they have to be bombed now, right before he was going to go home.
"Hurry up men!" His commander shouted, and Jerome struggled to crawl forward, wincing as he dragged his now useless leg forward. Some piece of metal had embedded itself in his leg, and pain shot through it every second. He focused on Mitch, to take off the pain. Jerome stopped under what he thought was good shelter. He took slow deep breaths to steady himself, and grimaced at the pain. He tried to get rid of it, remembering the first time he and Mitch kissed, the feeling of elation that filled his stomach.
So you can doubt, and you can hate, but I know no matter what it takes
Mitch opened his laptop, and looked at the last video he posted, seven months ago. He unconsciously scrolled down to the comments and read a few. The ones his eyes landed on, made him want to scream.
