TITLE- Christmas Miracle

Jerome grinned, sneaking down the stairs, a present snug under one arm. He tip-toed into the living room, and slid it under the tree, adding it to the others that hid under the green tree.

"Daddy what are you doing?" Jerome spun around, and found his daughter staring sleepily at him.

"Nothing Miri, go back to bed." Miri pouted clutching her stuffed bear tightly to her chest.

"Daddy are you waiting for Santa?" Jerome chuckled, and scooped up the little brunette.

"Nah, I'm just putting some of my presents to you under the tree." Miri smiled, and snuggled closer to her father.

"Good cause I thought you were stealing all the presents." Jerome laughed, tickling her stomach.

"Now why would I do that?" Miri let out a laugh, wriggling to escape his fingers.

"Cause Uncle Ty said you would." Jerome let out a fake gasp, and widened his eyes.

"Well then, he was a liar and a naughty boy. I guess Santa won't be coming for him." Jerome started for the stairs, stooping to grab the blanket that Miri had dropped.

"Hey Daddy?"

"Yes sweetheart?" Jerome kicked the door to Miri's sea green room open, and it bounced back softly against the wall. He slowly dropped her onto the bed, and pulled the fish covered blanket up over his daughter's body.

"Is Dad coming home this Christmas?" Jerome froze, staring at his daughter. She was the mirror image of Mitch, light brown feathery hair, big eyes that stared at him with the same adoration that Mitch had.

"I don't know sweetheart I don't know." He kissed her forehead, and slipped out the door. Jerome put a hand to his mouth, and tried to keep back the sob that rose in his throat. Mitch had left once he'd heard that the pregnancy actually went through. No one had heard from him again Preston, Nooch and Woofless spent a year trying to find him, but failed. That was over eight years ago. Jerome was a single parent, still working on YouTube, and was utterly alone. He bit his lips, trying to hold it back, but it wouldn't. All the pent up frustration, the anger and sadness came poring out of him. Broken sobs echoed from his chest, and bouncing about the halls. He got to his feet slowly, still unstable, and stumbled towards his room.

"Why did you leave us?" He whispered, as he gazed at the pictures lining the walls. The first half consisted of him and Mitch in various places and times. The other half were of Miri, pictures of her growing up. He could already see the change from her at five, to eight. Jerome sighed, and trudged to his room, tears and sobs still escaping his chest. He crawled into bed, covering himself with tons of blankets. He slowly fell asleep, tears still staining his pale face.

"Daddy wake up, wake up! It's Christmas!" A shrill voice shouted, and a heavy weight jumped on his chest.

"Five more minutes." He groaned, but peeked an eye open at his daughter. Imense disappointment filled her face, before she resumed shaking him.

"Come on Daddy, we need to see what Santa brought us!" Jerome sighed dramtically.

"But it's so early." At that moment, the doorbell rang. Jerome sat bolt upright, sending Miri tumbling to the floor with a soft "ooof"

"Sorry Miri." He jumped out of bed, and helped her up. She smiled at him, and raced out of the room and down the stairs. Jerome chuckled, and followed.

"UNCLE ADAM!" He heard her shriek, and a loud laugh. He came around the corner to see Miri giving Adam and Ty giant hugs.

"Uncle Ty, you lied." Ty raised an eyebrow.
