OC and Ian

Annika

I rolled over, playing with the grass blades between my fingers. We were on the brink of war. A summer breeze ruffled my short brown hair, and blew a sweet scent past me. My pet wolf sat beside my, staring out past us.

“Annika?” I started, and someone suddenly sat beside me.

“Oh, hey Ian.” I smiled, and kissed his nose. He had pushed up his eyepatch, and his bright blue eyes stared deep into mine.

“How are you today?” I spotted the cap on his head, and pulled it off, tracing the patterns on it.

“I’m alive. Worried but alive.” Ian smiled, and kissed my cheek.

“Annika, relax. I haven’t had an episode since before we met. I’m fine.” I nodded warily, and he pulled me onto his lap. I worried every day for his sanity. It hung on by a fragile thread, one that I’d saved. Ian had a funny disease (schizophrenia), and no amount of medicines from the herbalist could help him, except what he got from my company. I could feel his fingers combing through my short hair, and let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding. We both provided each other with what the other needed.

A shout rose from the village, and we both sat up, staring at the rows of cottages and houses in fear. Ian jumped up, and pulled me up with him. We ran for the village square, hand in hand. I lead the way, sadly being faster then my boyfriend. A sweat drenched horse stood breathing heavily, along with a teen, no older then Ty, or Jerome. A small crowd was growing steadily larger as time went on, someone taking the horse away, and sitting the boy down. Adam elbowed his way through the crowd, Ty and Jocelyn behind him. He knelt beside the boy, and looked him in the eye.

“What has happened?” He asked in a steady voice. I clutched to Ian’s arm, the anxiety and suspense getting to me.

“War.” My fate was sealed.

~Ian~

My heart sunk, and I felt Annika’s grip on my arm grow tighter. Adam straightened, and turned to the village.

“Men, get ready. We leave in two nights.” He marched away, the crowd parting in front of him. Silence filled the square, before a wail pierced the once calm summer air. It took me a moment to figure out it was Annika and that she’d fainted. I scooped her up, holding her close, before walking briskly towards my cottage.

Don’t do it, she’ll be heart broken. One voice whispered.

No, go. You must fight for the cause. The other argued.

SHUT UP! I yelled at them, and they quieted. I let out a shuddering sigh, shouldering open the door. I gently placed her on the bed, and sat in the chair by the fire.

You will go. The voices were back. They hadn’t returned since I’d first met Annika. I groaned, and fisted my hair, pulling on it faintly. A strong pain over took my head, and I winced, my hands sliding from my hair to my temples. I put pressure there, trying to force it out. It grew until my entire head throbbed, and my eyes started to blur. I saw fires, burning the villages. The trees burned like torches, and shrieks echoed from the town. I saw Jocelyn and Logan running with pails of water, Annika not to far behind. (if you read my first oc one shot, you will know who jocelyn and logan are, i’m so reusing them.) Enemy soldiers marched through the streets, setting fire to houses, and killing innocents. I watched Annika run into their path, and I screamed for her, waking myself from the nightmare. The fire still crackled in the hearth, and I immediately threw the water on it, watching it fizzle out.

“Ian?” I heard Annika whispered, and a pair of arms encircling my shoulders.

“I see fire.” I whispered. I felt her tense, before a breath of warm air on my ear signaled that she was about to speak again.

“Where?”

“Inside the mountains, burning the trees, I see fire, hollowing souls, watching the flames burn the mountain.” I continued, and she glanced out the window.

“Ian there is no fire.”

“I SEE FIRE!” I screamed, holding my head in my hands, hot tears rushing down my face. Things flashed past my eyes, old forgotten memories.

“Ian, calm down.” I could feel my chest tightening. “ADAM HELP!” I heard her shout, but even then, my eyes were slowly closing, the demons surrounding me, and darkness reigned.

~Annika~

“ADAM HELP!” I shouted, practically holding Ian up. He was slowly slipping out of it, and I held him close, panic rising. Adam burst in, Jerome and Mitch behind him. I looked up at them, tears falling slowly.

“What happened?” Adam demanded, while Mitch and Jerome carried Ian out.

“I don’t know, I woke up to him screaming and then he wouldn’t stop going on about fire. Fire burning mountains, trees, people. I don’t know what happened to him.” I whispered, holding my arms close to my stomach. Adam pulled me up, arms around my shoulders for support.

“Come on Annika, we’ll help him.” I numbly followed him. We walked through the dark streets, and along the roads until we reached the stone two story house that Adam lived in. Ian had already been placed in a spare room, and Logan was treating to him, her blonde braid shining in the candle light.

“Annika, sit here.” Jerome pulled out a chair, and sat me down.

“He’s in no shape to go and fight, neither are you Adam.” Logan turned around harshly, giving the village leader a glare. I smiled faintly, and gripped my boyfriend’s hand tightly.

“She’s right Adam.” Jerome said quietly to the fuming leader. Adam sighed.

“Alright then. Ian, Mitch, Jerome, Quentin, Jason, Ty and I will stay behind and guard the village. I’ll send Tyler out with the rest of the men.” Adam said, before the three left to spread the news and to give me some space. I lifted Ian’s worn hand to my lips, and brushed a light kiss on it.

“Please get well, I won’t be the same without you.” I whispered, laying my head on his chest, while tears started their tracks down my cheeks.

I was depressed again, sorry. LISTEN TO THE SONG TO THE SIDE OF THIS, ITS AMA-ZING! My sister is obsessed with him. Its kinda the motivation to this. And the disease Ian has, I had an epiphany while writing my health project. I’m doing it on Schizophrenia, and in my research, I found that the patients often have imaginary friends that demand them to do things, or voices giving them conspiracy theories. Its kinda scary. I watched a video about a little seven year old girl who had it, and she tried to kill her baby brother, and in the same video, a ten year old, when she was five tried to slit her own wrists with a hair clip. And a lot of people commit suicide cause of it. I feel bad now...... D: BACK TO THE HAPPY! Its christmas, I’m so glad im done with school, for 2013 at least. A year back, I thought the world was going to end lol. To WolfySmile, i hope you enjoy, this took me two days cause i was a lazy ass and procrastinated like a bitch. Lol and my sister made literally four hundred cookies yesterday, and i couldn’t help eating a couple. Lol. Have a good weekend guys, still got one more request and one last christmas one shot before actual christmas. I won’t be posting on Wednesday, cause its christmas, duh, but probably on tursday. Dont do drugs, drink hot coco, eat gingerbread, love tumblr, and ByE :D
