Jason stared at it, before examining his surroundings. Lavish decorations, lights and paintings covered the walls. He shakily got to his feet, and stared about. One door lead to a sparkling bath, another to a huge closet, a third to a bedroom. Jason stepped inside, and looked about. A large four poster bed sat in the middle, raised on what looked like some form of platform. Huge windows overlooked the castle, and the night sky beyond it.A door slammed shut, and he flinched, pressing his body against the wall. Sky strode in, throwing his crown to the ground, the golden rim rolling to a stop at Jason’s feet. The King seemed to register Jason was there, and drunk in his presence, before striding forward, and hungrily pressing his lips to Jason’s. Jason felt his heart leap, but struggled to push Sky off. When the King broke for breath, Jason kneed him where it hurt, and pushed him over. Sky fell, a pained look on his face. Jason scanned the room, and raced over to the fireplace, and drew the iron sword off the wall, holding in front of him.
“Stay back!” He cried, fear seeping into his voice. He scanned the room, and nudged the heavy door shut, locking it in case someone came in. Jason slowly stepped sideways, and his eyes caught his own reflection in a mirror. His frame was skinny, and dirty. His eyes looked strange and alien on his face. He’d lost all weight, and he could see every rib through his thin clothing. His hair had become straggly and dirty. Jason wasn’t the hero he used to be, and he suddenly realized, even if he could fight off Sky, he would lose badly. Jason dropped the sword with a dull clang and stumbled, catching himself on the wall. He slid down it, and stared blankly at the opposite wall for a moment, before thick hot tears welled up. Jason put his head down, and began to sob. Feet entered his line of vision, and someone knelt beside him. He threw his arms out, and cried into the person’s chest. He was scared, alone, and wanted to go back. Back to when he and Sky were in love, and when he wasn’t stuck in prison.
“Shhhh, I’m here. I’m here.” Sky cooed, and Jason hiccuped.
“You weren’t there then, why are you here now?” He gasped out, and slowly felt himself slipping into the black that welcomed him with open arms.
“Gah!” Jason’s eyes flew open, and he bolted upright. Sunlight streamed into the room, and he found himself in the four poster bed. Half of the bed was wrinkled, like someone had slept beside him. He shuddered at the thought, and slid out of the bed, his bare feet hitting the cold stone. The room was empty, and one look out the window showed him that it was midday. What happened the red head? Did she get the thirty lashes? Why did she do it for him? He stumbled, and winched as he tripped and fell.
“Jason!” A concerned voice called, and someone helped him up. Sky’s golden eyes stared at him in worry, and Jason shoved him away.
“Don’t touch me!” He hissed, trying to stand again. Sky watched him mournfully, before slipping an arm under Jason, and lifting him up. He weakly punched at Sky’s chest, all futile events. Sky carried him into the bathroom, and turned on the bath. He sat Jason on the rim like a small child, and helped him strip and get in. Jason pouted, not looking at the King. Sky left him to change into the set of clean pants and shirt. Jason looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was clean, his face clear of dirt, but the scars and cuts still showed. He stepped out of the bathroom to find Sky sitting in front of the fire. He gestured for Jason to sit down.
“Listen. Don’t speak, just listen.” He took a deep breath.
“When I left the base, I wanted to go back, I really did. But my plan was to get good with the King, and then when he died, I would take his place. When we stormed the base. I assumed you guys were out, and I would contact you when I was King and pronounce you guys heroes for saving my life, and having you appointed some royal stature. I didn’t expect you to be there, and I did what I had to. I became King half a year ago, but the council still thinks you are all criminals. I haven’t found a way to do it yet. I told them to treat you well enough, but I guess the message got changed somewhere down the line. I am sorry, I really am.” Sky hung his head. “I’m such an asshole, and deserve to die right now. I let my friends rot in a prison for three years, and did nothing like the dick I am.” He started to cry, and Jason felt tears prickle at the corners of his eyes.
“We held out hope for the first three months, hoping you would get us out. Then we lost hope. Mitch is down there, beaten and close to death, Jerome is about to tear his hair all out completely. We’ve been dying. We planned this. To try and get out.” Jason let his words just flow. “I hated you for the first month, then I denied it. I denied that you didn’t love me, you just were too stubborn. Then it went into a depression. My heart is scarred, I don’t know if it will ever be fixed now.” Jason stopped, trailing off into silence. He slowly wrapped an arm around Sky, and the two clung to each other.
“I am soo sorry. Will you be able to forgive me?” Sky muttered. Jason sighed, holding on to Sky tighter.
“I don’t know yet.” Sky just nodded, and the two spent the entire day cuddling and talking. The next night, the others were out of the prison and in cleaner rooms. Still under what Sky called house arrest, Jason was sent to a room like the others. He visited Mitch before he did, and found the Canadian awake, and bright eyed, confused to as why he was in a clean room, not a dark cell.
It was two months before Sky came bursting into Jason’s room, and swept him up in a hug.
“They did it!” He squealed, squeezing Jason tight. Jason laughed, holding Sky back. Sky pulled back, and planted a kiss on Jason’s lips, freezing Jason. Sky pulled away again, and laughed. Jason blushed deep red, and put his fingers to his lips. Sky turned around and looked at him, a big smile spilt across his lips.
“No, you did it.” Jason muttered, and kissed Sky, for the first time in four years.
“Now thats cute in all, but really?” A voice laughed from the doorway. They broke apart, to see the red headed girl in the doorway. Jason had gotten to know her, and learned her name was Tia. Tia walked in, wincing as she bent down, and handed Sky his crown.
“I believe this is your’s, my liege.” She teased, and Mitch ran in, Jerome following.
“Guys! We’re no longer under house arrest!” Jerome shouted. jumping on Jason’s bed. Mitch swung Tia around.
“Lezz go explore biggums!” Mitch shouted, dragging Tia and Jerome out, and down a hall. Both boys chuckled at their antics, and looked back at each other.
“Thank you Sky.” Jason said, throwing his arms around Sky.
“Love you Jay, to the moon and back.”
To the moon and back.
