"Perston what are you doing?" Matt asked, watching his boyfriend. Preston giggled, and looked up at Matt from his spot upside down on the couch.
"I'm taking a nap, what about you?" Matt shook his head.
"You'll strain your neck." Preston shrugged, and went back to staring out the skylight. Matt sighed, and sat beside Preston on the couch, and pulled the nineteen year old's head onto his lap. Preston squeaked, and then grinned at Matt.
"You care about me. My little heart might burst." Matt laughed at Preston, and leaned down, rubbing their noses together.
"And if I didn't, you wouldn't be lying here." Preston snorted.
"I'd still be here, annoying you." Matt rolled his eyes, and leaned back, threading his fingers through Preston's chocolate locks. A few minutes later, Preston was lightly sleeping, and Matt was on his way to dreamland too. His phone began to buzz, and Matt groaned, before flicking his finger across the screen and answering the call.
"Hello?"
"Is this Matt Nooch?" (i don't know his last name, shove it.) Matt sat up, his stomach bumping into Preston, and waking the teen. Preston grunted in protest, but Matt ignored him.
"Yeah, this is him. Who's this?"
"This is the hospital, your mother was just checked in because of a car crash. You're on her emergency contact list sir." Matt could feel the color draining from his face, and panic began to set in. White noise filled his ears, and the phone dropped from his hands. Emergency only meant that she might not make it.
"Matt, whats wrong? Matt?!" Preston sat up, and took Matt's face gently in his hands. "Matt, come on. Don't do this to me." Preston struggled to keep his own breathing even as Matt's face went slack. "Matt!" He screamed, shaking his boyfriend, trying to wake him from his shock.
Matt came back to the world to a set of watery brown eyes, and a loud sob. Matt's arms immedietly came up, and encircled Preston, pulling him into a hug. Preston sobbed loudly into Matt's chest, relief washing over him in waves.
Tears dripped slowly off Matt's nose.
"W-what's wrong?" Preston sniffled out, wiping his nose with the edge of his sleeve.
"My mom, she's..she's." Matt struggled to finish his sentence. Preston just turned, and pulled Matt close to him.
"She'll be fine Matt, she'll be fine." Matt nodded, agreeing, just because it was the only thing left he could do.
