Jason hated his life. Here he was, walking home from school alone, in the rain. He was teased for wearing a hood that resembled a helmet. He snorted. Might as well wear one, and go live in outer space. That was Jason’s favorite thing, outer space. An empty area that you could just get lost in its beauty, and float. That was the other cool thing he loved about it, you could in a sense, fly. He pulled the hood father up on his head, and shoved his hands in his pockets. It also didn’t help that he was bi, and was teased about that too. Didn’t help that he had a crush on one of the most popular guys in the school. He pressed the button on his phone, and one of his own songs flooded his ears. Through the sound of his music, and the rain, he barely heard the car slow down beside him. He turned, and to his horror, and surprise, Adam was staring at him. Jason pulled out the ear bud.

“You want a ride dude?” Jason looked around. He wasn’t talking to him, was he? Adam chuckled like he could hear Jason’s thoughts. “I mean you Jason.” Jason’s heart sped up. He knew his name too? With shaky hands, Jason opened the car door, and slid inside. Adam cranked up the heat, and began to drive.

“Where do you live?”

“North Walker street.” Adam nodded. Jason was shaking in his seat, partly from the cold, and partly from nerves. 

“I haven’t seen you around lately.” Jason jumped, and looked over at Adam.

“Huh, oh yeah. I changed some of my classes.” Adam nodded.

“Jerome said you were in one of his classes.” Who was Jerome? Adam must have seen his confusion. “The guy with the big nose.” Jason ohed. He knew Jerome.

“Yeah I know him. And his friend.” Jason said bitterly. 

“Whats wrong with Mitch?” (sorry for making Mitch a butt nugget, first thing that came to mind)  Jason shifted uncomfortably. 

“It’s nothing.”

“No, tell me.”

“They bully me. A lot actually.” Anger flashed in Adam’s eyes. His grip on the steering wheel, and silence filled the car. Jason stared out the window. 

“We’re here.” Jason moved to get out, when Adam grabbed his arm. Jason was surprised, when a pair of soft lips connected with the side of his cheek.

“See you at school.” And with that, Jason was standing outside in the rain, watching Adam’s car disappear. He lifted his hand to his cheek in a daze. Then he slowly turned, and started home, floating on a cloud. 

When he walked into school, everyone avoided him like the plague. In his English class, Jerome was watching him sadly, and Mitch had a black eye. He marched up to Adam before lunch.

“What the hell is going on?” Jason said angrily, glaring at Adam.

“What do you mean?”

“Everyone is looking at me like I died or something. And whats with Mitch’s black eye?” Adam sighed.

“My emotions got the best of me.” Adam hung his head. Jason lifted his chin.

“Don’t do it, I’m not worth it.”  Jason turned, and walked into the cafeteria, but without hearing what Adam said.

“But you are worth it to me.”
