"Delilah?" Caroline questions. "What are you doing here?"
Delilah gulps and I stand back. How the hell are we gunna get out of this one?
"Umm, I'm home schooled n-now." She stutters from beside me. Caroline raises her eyebrow and Delilah and I both fish for an explanation.
"And I said I'd help her with studying." I shrug.
"Yeah, my mom wasn't really good at home schooling so she brought me here. She's actually here. I'll...ill go get her" she runs off and I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding.
"Okay...why'd she call you Brendon?" She raises her eyebrow.
"Oh. I umm. I wanted to make her feel more at home. She's not a student at school anymore..." I say quickly. "I have to go, nice seeing you though" I shut the door quickly and turn around. I watch through the window in the door as she gets in her car and drives off.
"Is she gone?" Delilah comes back in.
"Yeah" I sigh. "That was close"
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have came in here"
"It's fine." I shrug it off. "We have 2 weeks before we have to leave. Let's just get through it" I ruffle my hair. Delilah nods and goes back to doing whatever she was doing.I sit at my desk eating my lunch and going over some homework when Caroline walks in and I freeze, sitting back.
"I know about it" she says sitting on my desk.
"Know about what?" I question.
"You and Delilah" she sighs and I feel my stomach heat up like I'm about to throw up.
"There's nothing to know" I shrug.
"Oh really?" She raises her eyebrow, pulling her phone out to show me my private Twitter account, pictures of Delilah and I kissing and statuses about her and us. I gasp and put my hand over my mouth.
"What are you going to do?" I ask. "She's 18 and she doesn't go to this school anymore" I shrug. "Our relationship is perfectly legal"
"But you were dating before she turned 18 and before she stopped going her, so on that grounds you can be arrested"
"Why do you care?" I sit forward.
"I care because, I've liked you for so long but who gets you? Delilah, I was kind of okay with that Destiny chick but that little bratty 18 year old doesn't deserve you" she says and I can feel my nostrils flare.
"How dare you call her that?!" I stand up slamming my hands on the table. "I love Delilah and she's everything to me. I don't care if that's not what you want for me! I will never date you Caroline" I shout and then sit back down.
"I get that. The time for us is way over. I just-"
"No Caroline! You can't just anything, except leave" I groan pointing towards the door. She sighs and walks out.
What the fuck am I suppose to do? I've kept our relationship a secret for 2 months and no one knew except people close to us.
What if she tells people?! I stand from my seat and sneak around the corner.
No one.
"Hey" a voice makes me jump and I turn around.
"Caroline" I groan. "Who are you going to tell?"
"Lots of people" she grins.
"When you do...just know that I love her a lot and whatever happens, if I get arrested I'll come back for her because she means everything to me." I look down at my hands.
"Brendon..." She sighs, putting her hands on my mine. "I'm not going to tell anyone. I know what she means to you, and I hope one day I'll meet someone and feel the way about that person the way you feel about her. I like you Brendon but I want you to be happy and if she makes you happy then...I'm happy" she explains.
"Thank you Caroline. I appreciate it" I hug her and she hugs me back. The bells rings signaling lunch is over and we pull away.
"I will miss you though" she nods and walks away.
