The dress was beautiful, the way it huged my body but didn't feel invasive. It ran down my body like water would do down a fall, changing my name to elegance and grace. Any feeling of doubt flew out the window the moment the dress graced my figure.

If it was any other time I would feel insecure about my body but a month ago when Liz told me to do something about it if that is the way I feel but don't do it to please anyone but myself. So I took her advice and have been getting there.

A soft knock on the door brought me back to the now. "Ready?"

"I don't know, maybe" I whispered truthfully.

"You look beautiful, love" the figure towered over me from behind me. "You know we can Chang plans and just stay here instead"

The suggestion followed by the trail of kisses was tempting. "We can't because this is important, you can't just skip out on your company's anniversary celebration."

I turned to face him. He was wear a midnight black suit, a white shirt which was adorn by a red bow tie. Call me obsessed but I live for his messy hair.

I reached my hand up and ran my fingers through the silk threads. His eye lids lower, taking in the feel of my touch. "Thank you for the offer but this is important to you and your father so don't even think about it. OK?"

"Such a sham cause we could have our own party here"

"Humm, tempting" I pushes him away from me giving us some distance. "we cant be playing right now Joshua, this is not the time"

He pull me pulled me back into him " but it is the places" he placed a soft and gentle kiss on my lips if I were to pull away I would be lying to myself so I allowed his lips to linger a while longer before he pulled away. "and you know it so lets not fight it"

I pulled him to the door before he could protest. The ride down was no different but I managed to survive. When we got to the ball room it was filled with people who look like they bathed in a bath of gold before coming here. Intimidating was so thick in the air if I had know I would have brought my gas mask. "Maybe we should have stayed in the room."

Joshua looked down at me next to him with a smirk on his face. "Too late, lets go there are my parents lets go say hi." before long he was pulling me across the room to his parents.

"Mom," when she saw his it was as if something lit up inside her eyes, I had noticed it the first time I met her.

"Josh" she pulled him into a hug and placed a kiss on both his cheeks. She spot me practically hiding behind Joshua like a child. "Samantha why are you standing behind the great wall of china." She said with a smug look on her face.

"Mrs. O'Connor, it's nice to see you again" I said with a sheepish smile on my face.

She pulled me in for a hug and I gladly accepted it. "Yes seeing that Joshua haven't brought you back over"

After gave small chats with his parents and drifting from small group to group I was growing a little weary.

"How do you do this? My feet are killing me" I said next to Joshua, the smile that I had plastered on my face still present.

"Just smile and wave, love" he smiled down at me and placed a kiss on the top of my head. Just the gesture alone made me want to go on.

I saw a couple approaching us and for some reason the female looked familiar. The sway of her hips down to the shoulder length brown hair. As the two figure got closer and closer memories brought me back to the day when I was verbally attacked and accuses of thievery.
