Wind was picking up speed and was making creepy howling sounds. Mayumi was fast asleep in Akira's arms. For some reason Akira was unable to sleep. He looked at Mayumi and smiled slightly. She looked so peaceful in her sleep, just like a baby. He laid her down gently and walked towards the window. Curtains were dancing frantically with the wind. He grabbed them and tied it with a silk cord.
"Why am I feeling so uneasy tonight?" He thought as he looked outside the window. "Its like the storm inside my head has manifested itself in the physical world." He laughed at his own thought. He stood near the window for a little while longer. He turned around and looked at Mayumi. At the break of dawn he left Mayumi's home. But as he was leaving he felt a strange feeling. His instincts were saying him to be with Mayumi but he brushed off those thoughts and left.
"Its not like I am seeing her for the last time." He laughed at such silly thought.
He went to the waterfall and took a dip in cold water. After that he started practicing with his sword. At the village Mayumi's parents had arrived. Her father was on a horse and he reached the home first. On the way home he was just thinking about Mayumi and his own pride. Soon Mayumi's mother too arrived in her palanquin. She rushed to her husband and ordered every servant to stay outside the vicinity of their home. She did not want others to get the slightest idea about what was going on."MAYUMI...MAYUMI....open the door." Mayumi's father knocked on her door. Mayumi was getting ready. She was an early riser so she was up since early morning.
"Father??? Is that you??" She knew her parents would reach village that day but not this early.
"Yes its me. Open the door." He ordered. Mayumi opened the door with a bright smile.
"Father....I missed you so much." She came forward and hugged her father but he pushed her away. Mayumi was shocked because she was the apple of her father's eyes. It was hard for her to believe that he actually did just pushed her away.
"What's wrong father??" She looked up at him in confusion.
"Do you have any shame??" He asked grabbing her arm roughly. A Shockwave of pain hit her as her father twisted her arm.
"You are hurting me father....what is going on??" She screamed in pain. Her mother came running towards them.
"For God sake leave her." Her mother pleaded. "At least first try to talk to her. She will understand."
"You just keep quiet. Let me teach her a lesson." He growled like an animal. His eyes were red and were filled with hatred and disgust.
"She is our daughter. Don't forget that." Her mother said crying.
"What is going on mother?? Why is father acting so strange??" Mayumi asked as she tried to get away from her father's tight grip.
"SILENCE YOU FILTHY CHILD. I am acting strange....is that it?? Would you mind telling us what you did when we were away??" He asked. Mayumi's breath hitched in her throat. Her face became pale. She knew what they were talking about but she pretended as if she did not know anything.
"What do you mean by that father??"
"Stop acting so innocent." Her father slapped her hard. She fell down and Blood came out from the corner of her lips. Her mother instantly picked her up and wiped away the blood.
"Mayumi...look at me." Her mother cupped her face. "Who is that demon??" Mayumi's lips parted as a gasp escaped her lips. She was stunned.
"You know about...." Her words were cut short by her father. "So you do have a relationship with a demon."
"Father I can explain."
"There's nothing to explain. I forbid you from seeing him." He declared his verdict without knowing Mayumi's feelings.
