"GET UP! YOU HAVE CHORES TO DO!"

Rolling over in her bed, Alyssa opened her eyes and heard her mother yelling and feet stomping up the stairs. What a lovely sound to wake up too Alyssa's sarcastic mind thought. But it was normal to wake up like this. It was how Alyssa woke up everyday. She reached over to her nightstand and grabbed her flip phone. Mom and Dad wouldn't buy her a smartphone. The time was 7:34 a.m, June 10th...Alyssa's birthday. But her parents wouldn't care that she was 15 today, noone did.

Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Alyssa sang to herself. It was the only celebrating that would be happening all day, maybe a text from her friends, but that was all. Nothing fun would happen. The only thing Alyssa ever did that was fun, was listen to music by her favorite band- Twenty Øne Piløts. She smiled as she remembered that Josh's birthday was coming up too. But her happy thoughts ended when her mother began pounding on her bedroom door. "DON'T MAKE ME COME IN THERE! GET UP!" Mom yelled.

"Okay, okay. Jeez," Alyssa muttered as she got out of bed.

Alyssa put on a pair of blue jeans and a short-sleeved, plain, black, t-shirt. She put her bracelets on her arms. The bracelets were from Hot Topic, Alyssa's favorite store. She would go there all the time with her best friends, but she never had any money to spend. They would always offer to buy something for Alyssa because Alyssa would tell them that her family was struggling with money. Alyssa never told them that she was hated by her parents. She also never told them that she didn't wear the bracelets because they were cool, but that they covered scars. No, let's not think about that. Alyssa thought as she grabbed her iPod.

She brushed her teeth and combed her hair. While she emptied and refilled the dishwasher, Goner began playing. Alyssa couldn't help but stop and sing along towards the end, when Tyler screamed the verse. "I wanna be known by you! I wanna- OW!"

Alyssa's head throbbed in pain and she threw her hands over her head. Turning around slowly and holding back tears, Alyssa saw her mother standing behind her with a frying pan. "Shut up and keep working. I didn't tell you that you could sing. You're terrible at it anyways," Mother said.

Well now, Alyssa was dizzy and couldn't see clearly. This made her work slower then usual. But would her mother care? Nope. Alyssa worked to the best of her ability all day while getting beat by mother. She wasn't aloud to eat all day. When Dad came home from work, it just ment more beating, so Alyssa snuck out of the house through the back door.

She raced through the backyard and pulled herself up the backwall. Alyssa leaped down on the other side and began walking to the near by park. It was about 7:30, so it was starting to cool down. Alyssa walked through a long field and across a railroad track. Another field and there was the park. She would come here for some alone time whenever possible. A tall, oak tree stood next to the sidewalk. Alyssa would climb it and sit there, thinking.

Ironically, Migraine began playing on her iPod as Alyssa's headache returned. She climbed the tree and rested on the 3rd branch. A cool breeze gently blew across the small town. Alyssa leaned against the tree and closed her eyes. Finally...peace and quiet...

But the quiet didn't last long. After 10 minutes, the headache began to subside and Alyssa considered hanging here for the night. But loud voices that came from under the tree interrupted Alyssa's thoughts. Alyssa opened her eyes and looked down. A group of about 5 boys had gathered under the tree. They looked to be about 9 or 10. One of them balanced his left foot on a soccer ball. Their voices became louder and louder. Alyssa rolled her eyes and leaped down the tree. The boys didn't notice her, just like everyone else. In fact, Alyssa's friends had forgotten to text her and wish a "Happy Birthday."

A bench by the swing set was the next option. Alyssa took a seat and closed her eyes once again. The powerful lyrics from TØP usually calmed her and reminded her to stay alive. But this had been a bad birthday, the worst Alyssa ever had. Music wasn't helping very much. The iPod lost all its battery and Alyssa sat alone, sat in silence. Suddenly, the voices and laughing of two men interrupted the quiet...

(A/N Heyyyyy this is the first chapter of my TØP fanfic. WOO HOO! Let me know your thoughts! And who could those voices be coming from??)
