Stay Alive

Alyssa was able to leave the hospital Sunday morning. Tyler sat in the back with her. Jenna and Josh sat up front. The ride home was quiet. It was too quiet. Almost an awkward quiet.

To avoid eye contact, Alyssa leaned against the window and stared outside. She wondered what would happen when they got home. Alyssa knew that Tyler was looking at her. She could just feel it.

When the car was parked in the driveway, Jenna said, to noone in particular, "It's good to be home."

Alyssa climbed out of the car and walked to the front door. Josh unlocked it and she immediately went upstairs to her room. She collapsed on her bed, buried her head into her pillow, and hugged it. All she wanted to do was sleep. She stayed in her room for about 15 minutes before someone knocked on the door. "Come in," Alyssa sighed.

The door opened and Josh came over to the bed. He sat down and asked, "Hey, I know the medication the doctor gave you might make you tired. But do you want to come in the living room and watch a movie? We can just have a lazy day if you want."

Alyssa lifted her head to look at Josh. He looked tired like she was. Might as well. It'd be better then laying in here by myself. Alyssa thought. She got up and followed Josh down the stairs. Alyssa took a seat on the couch and Josh looked for a movie. Tyler and Jenna joined them. Wait...was Tyler crying? Alyssa wondered. He came into the room with slightly red eyes...

She couldn't concentrate on the movie. The entire time, she was thinking, I shouldn't have tried to kill myself. I thought noone cared... But they do. I'm such an idiot. Josh kept glancing at her throughout the movie. He was worried.

When the movie ended, Alyssa excused herself and returned to her room. Returned to her bed, more specifically. This time, she put her hands behind her head and looked up at the ceiling. So many thoughts rushed through Alyssa's mind.

I thought noone cared. I didn't realize how much people really care until yesterday. I'm glad they do. I love them too.

I shouldn't have listened to Miranda. I should've ignored her from the start... Alyssa grabbed her phone and went to her DMs. She decided to finally block Miranda. She went to the top right corner of Miranda's profile and tapped "block." "Are you sure?" came up next. Alyssa tapped "Yes," And it was done.

Miranda was gone. Now, Alyssa didn't have to worry about her. Alyssa wanted so badly to be happy. This was the first step. She wanted to win the battles in her head. Alyssa wanted to stay alive.

She wanted to stay alive for her friends, her siblings, her parents, Jenna, Josh,... and Tyler. Alyssa wanted to stay alive for Tyler. He was the one who reminded her to do that in the first place! Alyssa was going to do all she could to Stay Alive.
