Uncle Brendon

Alyssa struggled to enjoy the tour after the first night. But she felt better and could get her mind off of her "friends" when they arrived in New York on August 16th. The bus arrived at their hotel and they dropped off their suitcases. Alyssa looked out the window at the large city. She wanted to explore! "We need to go out and see what's there!" She said, with a genuine smile.

Tyler smiled, "Just hang on. We'll go in a bit."

"What are we waiting for?" She wondered.

"A friend."

Josh and Tyler shared a grin and Jenna laughed. Alyssa rolled her eyes and decided to check her Instagram. She liked some posts and stopped when she heard a knock on the door. Alyssa looked up and watched Tyler check to see who was there. He opened the door and greeted the man on the other side.

Alyssa stepped away from the window to see who it was. Tyler said, "Alyssa. This is Brendon."

Brendon Urie approached Alyssa and gave her a warm hug. "How are you? I finally get to talk to you in person!" He said.

Brendon and Alyssa followed each other on Instagram and they had chatted a few times. But they hadn't met in person yet. She replied, "I'm good! It's amazing to be able to finally meet you!"

Everyone sat down and talked together for about 20 minutes about different things. Then Josh suggested that they go check out the city. Alyssa immediately stood up and was at the door in less then 5 seconds. Jenna laughed and grabbed her purse.

The boys followed the ladies out to the tour bus. They sat down by the windows and Alyssa asked, "Where are we going first?"

Jenna suggested, "I think we should have lunch in Central Park."

The others thought it was a good idea. They asked their driver to stop at a grocery store so they could buy the items needed for sub sandwiches. Uncle Brendon and Alyssa went to the dessert aisle while Tyler and Josh got the bread, meat, and cheese. He insisted that Alyssa called him her uncle. She loved it. Uncle Brendon grabbed 2 boxes of Drumsticks. He looked at them for another moment, then stacked more into his hands. "Isn't that a little too much?" Alyssa laughed.

"Nope. We need some for my tour bus and yours too," Uncle Brendon said.

Alyssa pulled out her phone and took a picture. In the picture, he had about 10 boxes of Drumsticks in his hands. Uncle Brendon gave Alyssa a wide grin and they walked to the bread section. As they walked Alyssa uploaded the pic to Instagram. Her caption said, I think Uncle Brendon likes Drumsticks. The comments mostly said things like, OMG YOU CALL HIM UNCLE BRENDON I'M CRYING! or You're hanging out with Brendon Urie? Lucky! or UNCLE BRENDON THAT'S ADORABLE!

Tyler was putting a bag of French bread into the cart. His eyes widened when he saw Brendon and Alyssa walking towards him. "Uh...that's a lot of Drumsticks," He said.

Josh stood behind Tyler and was trying not to laugh. Brendon poked his head out from behind the boxes. "Oh hey," He said before putting them in the cart, "I figured we'll eat one box at the park, and -of course- I'll want some on my tour bus. My boys will want some too. Your bus will need some ice cream too."

Josh helped Brendon while Tyler asked Alyssa, "Was this your idea?"

Alyssa laughed and shook her head. Jenna came over with a bag of chips and rolled her eyes as she set the bag in the cart. But she smiled as she did. They paid for their things then headed to Central Park.

At the park, Josh laid out a blanket for everyone to sit on. Jenna and Alyssa set out paper plates and cups. Uncle Brendon opened a box of Drumsticks. They all sat down and made their sandwiches. Alyssa put turkey, ham, swiss cheese, and pepperoni on hers. She looked up from her plate and saw a little boy looking in her direction. He was about 4 or 5 years old. Josh saw him too. Josh waved at him to come over.

The boy walked over to the group and said to Tyler and Josh, "My big cousin is going to see you sing tomorrow. She listens to your songs when she's sad."

Josh smiled at Tyler. "Is she here?" Josh asked the boy.

The boy pointed at a girl with long, black hair. Her back was turned away from them. Tyler and Josh stood up and followed the boy. Alyssa smiled as she watched them suprise the boy's cousin. Something about Tyler and Josh meeting fans made Alyssa happy. She wasn't sure what it was.

After 10 minutes, they returned. Tyler said that the girl had to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousin because her parents had died in an accident. The girl had said that the music by TØP had helped her. Alyssa ate her food and thought about what Tyler had said. Then it hit her. She knew why she liked watching her brother meet fans. Watching him meet fans made Alyssa happy because she knew what it was like to want to meet her favorite band. She knew what it was like to wish to tell how a band's music had helped in rough times. "Hey, are you awake?" Uncle Brendon asked.

Alyssa turned to Brendon. He was recording her sitting and staring at nothing. She smiled and tried to take his phone. Brendon stopped recording and quickly wrote a caption before posting it. Alyssa checked her phone to see what Brendon had put. His caption said, Alyssa- a.k.a my new niece- staring at nothing while she eats. Lmao. The comments were just like Alyssa's post from earlier.

After they ate and walked around the park, everyone got back on the bus and headed into the main part of the city for some shopping. Alyssa and Uncle Brendon took about 30 selfies as they shopped and Alyssa HAD to post 4 of them. When they returned to the hotel and said good bye to Brendon, he promised that they'd hang out again soon.

That night, Alyssa climbed into one of the hotel beds and looked through all the pictures from that day. She changed her wallpaper to the funniest selfie of her and Uncle Brendon. Finally, for once, Alyssa was truly happy.
