Tracking the Hunter

Kade's POV

            We all headed out into the woods trying to pick up his scent. We need his scent, he needed to pay for what he has done. We have done nothing! He should be after my parents not me. I can kill him just by looking at him, with my power. I put my nose to the ground and started to smell, there was a faint hint of his scent still there. I had my nose to the ground like a hound dog following his scent.

            His scent got stronger the closer that I got to the road. I heard cars and trucks moving along the road. So I couldn't go out there in this form. I headed a little bit closer to the road and changed back to human form, my gun was still in place. It was strapped around my thigh. I headed out of the woods and looked around. Up the street I could see black marks on the road. Interesting. I whistled loud enough so that the wolves would have heard me and head my way. I felt the presence of the other wolves and I hope that they know they will have to change back.

"Hey man, what you got?" Riley asked coming out in human form, he had his shot gun in his hands. I pointed to where the black marks were. Riley headed up to them to get a better look. I waited for the others to come out.

            After they were all out I headed up to the black marks. Someone wanted to get away fast. And this spot had Todd's scent all over it. I looked more closely at the marks, they showed someone turning around really fast and head back into town. "Do we go after him?" The one guy I think his name was Darius asked. I looked at him.

"No, he will be back. I know he will." I told them.

"What if we know what he drives?"

I whipped around to look at the guy that said that, "And what does he drive?" I asked coming closer to him. He took a step away and said.

"He drives a black Ford truck."

"How do you know?" I countered back.

"I saw him part the truck before we got him." I smiled at him and patted his back.

"Lets hunt!" I screamed out. They all cheered. "Change back and stick to the shadows till we reach town, we will regroup there." I told them and changed into my wolf form. I headed to the other side of the road, I knew that they were following me and I led them into the shadows. I knew that town was about 2 miles in the direction that we were heading. I also know that it would only take up about 5 minutes to get there.

            I picked up the pace and started to run, I saw that Riley was coming up to my side. I looked over at him, and back at the town, we were coming up on it quickly so I slowed my pace down a bit. I cut back behind the first store in town and changed back.

"Where do people stay when they come into town?" I asked them.

"Either at the mom and pop bed and breakfast or the Best Western." The one name Darius said.

"Ok, good. We are going to slip into two groups one group goes and checks out the Best Western. Other checks out the mom and pop bed and breakfast. Riley your the leader of one group." I slipped everyone up equally. We had about 5 to a group. I headed towards the mom and pop and Riley went the other way.

"Call if you find him!" I yelled to him. I took my group and we headed over the bed and breakfast. It was down the street a little. There was a small lit up sign out at the side of the road. I looked at the place. It looked like a regular house. A good 3 stories tall, it was a brick house, a nice wrap around porch. It looked like there was a garden out back. I looked up at the house and saw that one of the lights were on and someone sitting at a table making something. I looked to the street in search of the black truck. I spotted the black truck at the end of the street, I pointed to the other guys. I pulled out my phone and dialed Riley's number, as we all headed over to the truck.

"You found him?" He asked.

"Yeah, he is staying at the bed and breakfast. We are heading towards his truck." I told him and hung up. I had the guy that saw him park the truck at the territory with me, I watched as he examined the truck.

"This is the one." He stated. I gave him a quick smile.

"Now we wait till riley gets here." I told them. I looked around for some placed that we could sit and wait, I knew that it would take Riley and his group a little time. The best Western was in the middle of town and a lot of people would be around there.

Raine's POV

            Me and the rest of the females sat in the living room waiting to hear something back from the guys, not all the males went out, some stayed behind to protect the territory just in case. I hope they kill the hunter. The kid that he killed, his name was Jacob, he was only 14 years old, he was an Omega, but he still had a life. His mother and father took the body into the woods to bury him and give him a farewell, we all paid our respects when he was laying in the kitchen.

            It was a sad time to lose a child like that, I felt sorry for the parents, I didn't know what its like to lose a child, but I did know what its like to lose a parent. My mother was shot by hunters when I was 7. I was there up in the tree, I watched them do it.

(flash back)

            It was a cold winter day, the whole pack was getting ready for the holidays. My mother and me were heading into the woods to find a nice big tree to cut down for outside the Alpha house. Every year we did this since I was little, my mother would always take me out. We were in wolf form, my mother was a deep grey, black and white wolf with the purest looking blues eyes ever. My eyes were like hers, but hers was brighter.  We came up to a big tree in the middle of a clearing. It was a beautiful full Christmas tree.

            Before we could even get up to it we heard leaves cracking and we looked around trying to see what it was. My mother changed back.

"Change." She whispered in my ear and I did what I was told, my mother had a soft voice, but today her voice was full of warning and concern. I was standing in front of my mother in human form looking at her. "Climb that tree, ne quick and don't say a word." She told me I nodded my headed and started to climb. It was a big pine tree, but not the kind that had all the prickly needles, the needles on this one was soft. I laid up in one of the high branches and looked out to see my mother still standing in the field.

            I watched as two men carrying shot guns walked into the clearing, they looked at my mother and smiled. "What are you doing here hunter?" My mother yelled at them.

"We are here to get rid of some wolves. Werewolf." The one hunter spit back at my mother. I sniffed the air and I smelled silver, I knew that my face was twisted in horror as I looked back at the scene. The two hunters lifted their guns and pointed it at my mother. I want to scream out, but I knew that I couldn't. I closed my eyes not wanting to see what happen next.

            The next thing I heard was the guns go off and the hunters laughing. I opened my eyes a little and looked at the ground, their I saw my mother laying still and the hunters walking away. I felt silence tears run down my face. I could smell the blood in the air and the silver bullets. I waited a good 10 minutes before I decided to go down the tree.  As soon as I reached the bottom I ran to my mother's still body. I felt more tears running down my face, I laid my head on her chest.

"Mommy, come back." I kept saying over and over again. I changed into wolf form and howled, mourning the death of my mother. The song was sad and low in tone, I knew that others would be here soon.

            I laid my wolf head on her chest and I started to whine till others came. My father was the first one there and the ran right over to me and hugged my wolf form, next came my sister and my brother. I changed back and to sob. We all hugged each other, as more came the more people joined in on the hug.

(End of Flashback)

            I couldn't help but think of my mother, I started to cry again as the last memory of my mother ended, I put my head in my hands and silently cried.  I felt someone hug me, but I didn't look up to see who it was, I just sat there and cried.
