I was speechless. What are you supposed to say to that? "That's not what I meant, Crystal..." I said slowly. She nodded, blinking and looking away
"Neither of us know how this is going to play out, as neither of us have had this happen..." She was being very passive... smiling sadly, she looked to the drink she had before lifting it up to her lips. The ones I had...
After she had finished it, she placed her hands on the bar. The hands I held tightly... What is wrong with me...?
"Yeah."
She glanced over to me, cracking a smile.
"What do you remember of past timelines sans?"
"Past timelines...?" I repeated quietly. "Frisk, a lot of Frisk. She killed everyone, papyrus... Over and over again... I had to fight her, repeatedly. I thought I had gone mad. Every reset was the same, she said she'd change, but she picked up the knife too fast to stop herself..." Now I had begun shaking "only over twelve times has she spared them. Where we got to the surface. That's all... Twelve times of all the hundreds of resets." Her sad smile only got sadder as she looked at me. I was shaking and tears threatened to spill from my eye sockets. She leaned closer and wrapped her arms around me, planting a small kiss on the top of my skull.
"I'm sorry... I made you relive those thoughts..." She whispered softly, her warm fingers grazing across my boney hand.
"...What do you remember?" I asked, practically forcing it out, her face fell a second.
"Some times, a few of the bad... A few good..." She chuckled to herself. "Maybe I had felt many negative emotions..." She sighed pulling her jacket around her a little tighter, like a security.
"Negative? Like how?"
"Jealousy. Fear. And perhaps hate." She avoided eye contact. There was a few tears that slipped down her face. "I've lost them all too, not as many times as you... But it was still traumatic, I loved them and she look them. Always she'd save me, last. To make sure I suffered... To see the one I loved truly most die, a bloody, dusty heap on the ground..." Tears now streamed from her eye and down her face, all I could do was wrap my arms tightly around her, she was shaking beneath my grasp, only now had I realized we were gaining attention, but the whole place had looked sullen. Almost as if they could remember bits and pieces. With my arms as tightly around her, I teleported us.
Out of Grillby's, and into waterfall.
We landed beside a small field of echo flowers, along with a stream passing beside us. I looked down to her, passed out from the sudden change in atmosphere, it must be suffocating to humans. They need air to live, as we don't, that's why teleportation never bothers papyrus or myself. Papyrus just hates it, since he can't enjoy the sceneries or something like that. I sighed at my new time at being alone...
What did she mean "Always she'd save me, last. To make sure I suffered... To see the one I loved truly most die, a bloody, dusty heap on the ground..." I was last Frisk would fight before the world would always be reset.
Did she mean...?
I placed my head in my hands to cover the bright blue blush creeping onto my face, I think I may get it now. I looked over to her, she was still out, that only made my face more blue.
"Dammit..." I mumbled to myself, before looking around at all the flowers near us, all of them whispering to us, mumbles of conversations or just passer-by's talking to themselves. It was rather comforting actually. I laid down beside Crystal and nudged her lightly "hey.... Ya'okay?" I asked quietly, she shuffled around slightly, her eyes peeking open to create more tears that fell freely. I leaned to her, pressing my skull to her forehead. "Crystal. That was in the past... Let's move on... Together now, yeah?" I used my thumbs to wipe away the stray tears still falling down her face. Once she had registered what I had said and woke up, she opened her eyes and looked up to me.
"What do y-you mean...?" she whispered, her voice cracking. My eyes widened momentarily, and I just held onto her.
"I'll come back every night, anytime I can... Let this be-" she came closer her face lingering a few centimeters away from mine. "Crystal?" I murmured. She wiped her last remaining tears and smiled, it looked forced, but not entirely.
"Sans... This is a new circumstance, we both have to figure things out, and you say you want to do it together, but how can we? How can we when-when we're from different worlds?" She was sincere. Sad. Perhaps lonely. I could tell by the way her voice wavered and new tears lined her eyes, the way she held tightly into my hands and how she looked me in the eye as she spoke.
I didn't use any words this time. Instead I leaned forward connecting that gap between us, pulling her into a kiss, by pressing my teeth to her lips gently. Her eyes widened, and she immediately became flustered and red. When I pulled back I looked away, to all the echo flowers, and pulled my hood over my face,
"Sorry..." Was all I could force out this time. I stood up and took a few steps towards the flowers before I stopped just staring at them "this is the world I would choose, but it's the one I can't... I'm confused, and not just on this dream scenario, but how I feel..." She hopped up and began to take a few steps towards me "I used to just push it all to the side, feelings, I felt for Pap. He's my brother, all I have left, but... For some reason, with you... I don't feel alone, I don't feel like I have to hide the fact that I'm afraid, like... I... Don't have to hide behind my other self I created others to see..."
