It didn't take nearly as long as I had anticipated. I found her so soon, her eyes dull and glazed over, her voice weak as she spoke up to the king. Even his eyes were sullen. He never met her eyes though, he closed his eyes, and held up his long scythe.
My eyes widened, as I ran forward yanking Frisk back. She landed on top of me, and looked down, locking eyes with mine. Immediately hers welled with tears.
"I didn't want to see you again." She stated, wiping her eyes and falling backwards off of me into the flowers. That hurt too, dammit. "I just want to give you happiness... C-cause wherever you are, and I am. It's never happy..." She wrapped her arms around my neck and silently sobbed, like she had needed it for so long. I met gaze with the king who only shown regret as he had with the kids that had fallen. He never wanted to kill them.
But as King it was his duty.
I rubbed the back of frisks head reassuringly. "It's okay frisk... Please don't do this. Heh. See you really scared Papyrus."
"If you like it here more, I want you to remain happy here..." I rested my forehead on hers
"You keep repeating that," she nodded a little
"My happiness doesn't matter to me anymore. I only care about yours. " my eyes widened a little
"W-why?" Don't bullshit it Sans. You know why. My mind was screaming. A smile so small formed on her lips.
"Cause I love you." She stated, then began to get up, "and I know I can never have you, you love Crystal." My gaze met the floor and didn't move for some time as the three of us stood in silence. Frisk began to turn to the king once again, but I stepped forward, taking her arm and turning her to face me. A faint light had appeared in her eyes once again, and that gave me a small sliver of hope.
Mindlessly I leaned forward, our faces practically together, "people change, as do feelings." I grumbled, and her face seemed to gain back a look of life. But her facial expression remained the same and emotionless. I chuckled pulling back a bit "it's rude to kiss you while with another huh?" I sighed, pulling back completely and placing my hand on my face. "I really am an idiot."
She stared blankly "you didn't mean any of that..." She said her eyes narrowing, my eyes furrowed
"I did, what gave you that idea?" I stood up a little straighter "is it because I didn't kiss you?" Her cheeks turned a faint more pink as her stair remained cold and empty. I smirked, "you want me too that badly?" I leaned in a little bit, but she stepped back
"You don't love me." She stated again. I sighed,
"Frisk... I didn't say that."
"But you didn't say you love me either." My smirk grew "you said feelings change......" It seemed she caught on and looked down placing her hand over her mouth in a fist like she was going to cough. But her cheeks only flared "that's ridiculous..." She grumbled,
"You know what's ridiculous?" She looked up to me "the whole underground is gone" I said glancing to the door, Asgore's eyes widened and he staggered to the window looking out across the Underground. And as I had said, there was no one. No kids playing in the streets, no adults going about their daily life. No one dancing.
"This-This can't be!" He whispered, then desperately ran out of the room. Frisk and I stood, like blank dummies neither doing or saying anything. Till I chucked,
"Y'know, we're all alone..." I said to her, she never looked to me, afraid to show her emotions around me. "Frisk..." I mumbled, and leaned down a bit, taking her face in my hand turning her head gently to look at me. "I forgive you."
Her eyes widened, and she only stared, her mouth open unable to say words. I grinned softly,
"I mean it kiddo... I forgive you, I was mean in the past too, It was hard always being alone.... I don't want to be anymore, please..." My hands began to shake once again as I reached out for her face, taking it lightly and pulling it a little bit closer. Another kiss, but this time it felt different. It had more meaning. More feeling than with Crystal.
"Sans..." She pulled away, her eyes wide, "you-you can't! She-" I pressed my finger to her lips, silencing her. I looked away, and let go.
"That was different, it- it felt more... More-"
"Meaningful." She finished for me, smiling softly, I nodded,
"Is that wrong...?" I asked quietly, she was silent a little longer but shook her head, fixing her little skirt.
"Sans...?" I hummed to her, wanting her question. "In, uh, a previous timeline, I had asked you... With my dying words... To dance with me again?" She asked hopefully. I smiled, and nodded
"I remember, but I never said I forgot." I winked, "shall we dance then?" I bowed a bit holding my hand out to her she smiled a small little smile, but it seemed meaningful.
"I'm still not very good at freestyle yet..."
"Then let's focus on ballet."
