"Give... it... back," a voice growls. Chara jumps to their feet and looks around. They're all alone. They move forward, well aware of what's going to happen. They watched Frisk through every reset. They know exactly what to do... up to the end of The Ruins. Since Frisk never gained any LOVE, Chara inevitably lost the ability to follow Frisk, and was sent back into the void between life and death. After they leave The Ruins, they're completely blind... almost. They know a little from Frisk's first run, where they killed everyone before giving up on Sans.
Chara remembers that run, but now, with a soul, they fell guilty. They fell remorse for pushing Frisk to kill everyone, but now they have a soul, they can love again. Chara moves forward, and runs into Flowey. "Hiya!" Flowey greets,"I'm Flowey! Flowey the flower!"
"Let's get to the point," Chara replies.
"Fine," Flowey sighs,"catch the friendliness pellets."
Chara intentionally gets hit, knowing Toriel will stop Flowey. They have no intention of taking their time. They intend to break the barrier and free the monsters as quickly as they can. They just want to help everyone, and now, with a soul, they can. Toriel attacks Flowey. "Hello my child," Toriel greets.
Chara smiles. They hug Toriel, crying. "It's OK my child," Toriel comforts them, "that wrteched creature won't hurt you anymore."
Chara remembers that Flowey claimed to be Asreil. However, they don't believe him, not for a second. "Mom," Chara smiles, "it's me, it's Chara."
Meanwhile, Sans goes to Grilby's. Sans sits at the bar, sipping ketchup.
"Sans?" Grilby asks, "can we talk?"
"Sup' Grills?" Sans asks.
"Sans," Grilby asks, "what can you tell me about the resets?"
Sans sweats nervously. "What resets?" Sans asks.
"I've been having nightmares. In these nightmares, I'm killed by my best friend, Gaster. Over, and over, and over. I'm fighting him to protect you, and everytime, just before I wake up, I see two humans, one in a green shirt, and the other in a purple shirt, both with yellow stripes. The one in green, steals the other's soul. The other human, screams, a deafening scream. They scream, 'give it back,' over and over again. The child in green, pushes a button that says 'reset.' I wake up, and when I go back to sleep, I see the child in purple, but they have a soul, and Gaster kills them. Same dream, every night for the last week."
Sans sits there silently. He knew there could be side-effects if a monster reset, and decides this is one of them. "Grilby," Sans explains, "don't mention this to Gaster. I can fix this, just give me time, OK?"
"Sure thing Sans," Grilby replies.
Sans begins to leave, "oh, and Grilby?" Sans asks, "if my eyes ever glow red, kill me on the spot." Sans leaves, he's not getting possessed by Chara again, but he doesn't realize Chara has no intention of hurting any monster anymore.
"Chara?" Toriel asks, "is it really you?"
"It's me mom," Chara smiles, "it's really me."
"How?" Toriel asks
"DETERMINATION." Chara lies.
"It's so good to see you!" Toriel hugs Chara.
"Listien, mom," Chara pleads, "I need to reach the barrier, I need to talk to dad."
"Chara," Toriel pleads, "I can't lose you again. I know you're telling the truth cause you know that name, but Asgore... he'll kill you Chara. I won't let you. Cmon', let's go home." Toriel leads Chara through The Ruins. They arrive at Toriel's house.
"Welcome home," Toriel smiles.
Chara smiles back, just happy to have a soul again, but they know Toriel won't let them leave. They play along and go inside. They look in the mirror. They smile, seeing themself alive again, whole again. They hear a voice, "in the mirror, is a cold-blooded murderer and a good for nothing soul stealer." Chara recognizes the voice.
"Frisk?" They ask, "is that you?"
Frisk laughs eerily. "I'm getting my soul back," they growl, "and I don't care what it takes. I've lost my ability love, so, until you give back what you've stolen from me, I'm going to LOVE instead."
"I'm not afraid of you," Chara replies, "as soon as I leave The Ruins, you're gone!"
"You only failed cause you weren't DETERMINED enough. I'm not going anywhere. I'm more DETERMINED than you Chara. As soon as you die, you'll have no choice but to surrender your stolen soul to me."
"I won't die," Chara replies, "I've worked so long, so hard to come back. Everything I ever did in my cold, soulless state, was to get a soul, was to love again. For what it's worth, I'm sorry Frisk."
Frisk goes silent. Chara tries to sneak out of The Ruins, but Toriel hears them walking down the stairs. Chara approaches the door. "Where are you going?" Toriel asks.
"I'm leaving," Chara replies, "I'm going to break the barrier."
"Asgore will kill you," Toriel explains, "I won't let you pass."
Chara holds their stick. "Mom," they plead, "I know it's dangerous, but I have to try. I have a human soul, and Asgore is my father. He would never hurt me. I can convince him to stop."
Toriel begins to cry. "Please," she cries, "I can't lose you again." Chara hugs Toriel.
"You won't," Chara smiles, "I promise." Toriel holds Chara for a moment.
"If you change your mind," Toriel pleads, "just knock, I'll let you back in."
"Sure," Chara lies, "I promise."
Chara begins to leave. "Before you go," Toriel stops them, "here." She hands Chara their favorite chocolate bar.
Chara hugs Toriel again. "I won't fail you," Chara smiles, "I promise." Chara waves goodbye and walks through the door. Chara's not sure what will happen now with Gaster involved, and without hurting anyone. They walk down the long pathway, until suddenly they hear footsteps. They fear Sans has come with a vengeance. They run as fast as they can, until at the gate, their soul turns blue. They struggle with all their might, but they can't move. A skeleton approaches them...
Hey! Gen3king again! Before you get angry about Chara being good and Frisk being evil, remember, Frisk has no soul, they can't love, but Chara can, and has nothing against monsters.
