Chara is immediately filled with a sense of dread apon entering the True Lab. This was the place Undyne was talking about. Chara clutches their locket. They begin to explore. As they explore, they feel like they're being watched. An amalgamation attacks.
Chara manages to spare it. They clutch their locket tighter to calm themself down. FIGHTing these things is not the solution, Chara knows that, but Chara is also deathly afraid of them.
After continuing through the True Lab, they enter a hall with one continuous mirror. A smile appears above their head. They remember the very first run, where Frisk was afraid and did genocide. Their sins continue to grow heavier. Eventually, they reach the end. Amalgamates corner Chara. Chara clutches their knife. The amalgamates close in. Chara prepares to FIGHT.
Alphys stops the amalgamates. With all that said and done, Chara isn't sure what to do next. They call Gaster.
"What do I do now?" Chara asks.
"You need to go to The Barrier," Gaster explains, "this is it kiddo. Be careful, and most importantly, stay DETERMINED."
"OK," Chara replies, "see you on the surface." Chara hangs up and heads to The Barrier.
Meanwhile, Frisk is talking to Asgore.
"Do you remember me?" Frisk asks, "it's me, Frisk Dreemur."
Asgore sighs. "Yes," he replies, "I remember you."
"Wait," Frisk asks, "what?"
"I remember everything Frisk," Asgore explains, "when Gaster was alive, before the RESETs, he was studying DETERMINATION. He informed me that RESETs were a possibility. Why do you think I didn't bat an eye on your pacifist run when you told me I had killed you before? Because I remembered doing so. I raised Chara, and they had this power before you did. I learned to remember. No one else knows I can remember except me, and now, you."
"Well that explains that," Frisk replies, "I had been wondering about that. Anyways, if that's the case, you know what I'm about to ask."
Asgore grips his trident. "Chara is dangerous," he sighs, "it must be done."
"Good," Frisk smirks, "it's time to end this."
Chara arrives at The Barrier. Asgore sighs. "If there is anything else you wish to do," he explains, "do it now."
"What are you talking about?" Chara asks, "it's me, Chara. We don't have to FIGHT dad. We have seven souls. We can shatter The Barrier together. We can finally return to the surface."
Asgore ignores Chara. He draws his trident. "Ready?" He asks. Asgore starts a FIGHT.
It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, on days like this, kids like you, should be burning in Hell.
Chara begins to believe Frisk. They pushed Frisk to kill everyone on Frisk's first run, and even after Frisk got a happy ending, Chara took it away. Chara feels the weight of their sins grow ever heavier.
Asgore sighs. "Chara," he smiles, "it was good to see you again... goodbye."
Asgore shatters the MERCY button. Chara tries to ACT. They can talk, which they have a feeling will do no good, or call.
Chara calls out for help... Flowey appears. "Don't worry," Flowey smiles, "I'll go get help." Flowey leaves.
All Chara can do now is stall.
"Make them FIGHT," Frisk demands, "if you die, I'll be able to get my soul and RESET. If they refuse, then they die. Break the other options."
Asgore breaks the ACT and ITEM options. Chara chooses FIGHT, but misses intentionally.
Asgore attacks. Chara knows he isn't holding back, but they have their locket. With it, they can take Asgore's attacks. Asgore lands a hit. Chara has fifteen HP left.
They miss again. Asgore lands another hit. 10 HP left. Chara misses once more. Asgore strikes again. 5 HP left, and with Asgore dealing five damage, it'll only take one more strike to kill Chara. Chara clutches their knife. They know that of they kill Asgore, they can never reach the surface, but if they die, they'll be soulless again. They refuse to go back to being a soulless husk, a true monster. Chara prepares to FIGHT...
Before they can finish their attack, Toriel breaks up the FIGHT. Chara sighs with relief.
"No no no no!" Frisk yells, "not this! You soul stealing demon! I'll kill you!"
It's then Chara realizes that this is it, the pacifist ending. They did it, they won. Toriel and Asgore argue for a moment, but as others arrive Asgore losses The argument. Asgore drops his trident, moving on from Frisk's death.
Everything is going great, but then, Flowey arrives. He traps everyone, just like on Frisk's run. "Well then," Flowey smirks, "are you ready to return to the surface with your best freind?"
"You're not Asreil!" Chara yells, "you're nothing but a demon!"
Flowey kills the monsters, "oh, but that's where you're wrong," Flowey smirks.
Flowey absorbs the human and monster souls. He becomes Asreil. "It's me," Asreil smiles, "your best friend."
Chara is to shocked to react. They completely freeze. "Let's go," Asreil smiles extending his arm, "let's return to the surface, together." Chara hugs Asreil.
Frisk realizes that Asreil has a lot of LOVE from his time as Flowey. Frisk begins to posses Asreil with their DETERMINATION.
Asreil can feel Frisk taking control. They push Chara away. They try to warn Chara. "Chara," Asreil pleads, "run. It's Frisk, they're coming."
Frisk takes control. "Well then," Frisk smirks, "hello, Chara. Did you really think it'd be that easy? That you could just break the barrier? No. I'm going to kill you, right here, right now. It is time you pay for your sins Chara, it is time to return my soul!" Frisk starts a FIGHT...
