"You're done? You're fast that's good."

"Where are they?"

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm nervous. Hey, I don't usually do this kind of thing you know. I sure as hell don't want to look stupid in front of other people.

"They're on their way up here already."

Chase sat on one of the swivel chairs. He began reading his project proposal.

"Hey, I just want to inform you that I'm not used to this kind of stuff and I warn you I might screw up."

He looked up from reading his report. A small smile tug at the corners of his lips. Wow, he looked more human when he smiles. A really good looking human, I must say.

"Don't worry, you're doing fine. Did you made this?" He said pertaining to the coffee that he was sipping

"Yeah"

"It looks good and tastes good too."

"Thank you." I took my notepad and my pen when his clients started coming in and they proceeded with their meeting. . I was doing fine and I know it. It's just like back in college where I need to take down notes. The only thing that's bothering me is my feet. Damn, these shoes! I never should've worn it. My feet are killing me. The meeting lasted for two hours and by the time they are done I was actually ready to shout for joy.

"Thank God that's over." I muttered to myself. I sat down on the coach and massaged my foot. I probably have blisters right now.

"You okay?" Chase asked. He was looking at me as if I'm an endangered species.

"Hell no." Hey I was just being honest

"Why?" he peered down at me

"It's my feet. I think it has blisters already."

I was shocked when he knelt down and checked my feet. He removed my shoes and inspected it and the he stood, went to his office and then knelt in front of me again.

"What are you doing?"

"Putting band-aids."

"Why are you doing that?"

He is being gentle with me right now..could it be that my first impression of him is wrong? Maybe Aunt Claire is right, maybe he is really nice.

"Because I don't want a limping secretary." He said and stood up. He was smirking when he looked at me. So much for kind and understanding huh. I just sat there and thought why In hell am I here anyway. Why didn't I think twice about Aunt Claire's offer anyway? Wow, for the second time in my life I am regretting a decision that I made.

I heard my phone ringing but I don't want to get up just yet. I just sat there oblivious to the ringing of my phone. I just tilt my head back and closed my eyes. I can't believe Im actually tired. I kept my eyes closed even when I heard Chase come out of his office. I know he is now looming  in front of me because I can smell his cologne.

"Your phone is ringing."

"Don't you think I know that?" I said, my eyes still closed.

"Must I remind you that you are still inside the office and it's still working hours and you should'nt take insignificant calls."

"This isn't an office. It's Hell with flourescent ligthing."

"Stop being a baby and answer it already." Chase said, probably super irked with me right now. Well, I don't care. I would love to make his life miserable anyway.

"I thought Im not allowed to take insignificant calls?"

"Just answer it. It's annoying."

"It's my phone so I'll decide when I'm gonna answer it.  "

I heard his footsteps, probably walking away now. I hope he goes back to his bat cave and stop bothering me. My cellphone stopped ringing, probably the caller, whoever that is, got the clue that Im never really gonna answer the phone right now.

"Hello?" I heard Chase's voice.  I looked up to see Chase holding my phone. The giant answered my phone! When he saw my reaction he just smirked. If looks could kill, he would probably be lying on the floor under the pool of his own blood.

"It's a guy named Victor." He said, and tossed the phone to me. I barely managed to catch it since I really suck at catching anything, and I mean anything.

"Hey" I answered

"Who was that?" Victor asked

"Who was what?"

"Who was the guy that answered your phone?"

"It's a long story. So why did you call?"

" Slinky  is sick."

That made me listen to him carefully. Ryan is my beloved dog. I got his name from the dog in the Toy Story since slinky is also a dachshund. Slinky is my company most of the time so he's more like my baby than just a dog.

"What happened? Where is he right now?"

"He doesn't want to eat and he seems so weak. The vet gave me medicines and vitamins for him. I called to tell you that I'll be taking care of him since, you know, you're preoccupied with your new job."

"Thanks Vic. I'll drop by later after work. So how is he?" I felt relieved since Vic is gonna be looking after slinky. I know I won't manage to take care of him right now since I have to keep my part of the bargain with Auntie.

"He's sleeping right now. You sound so tired C, what's wrong?"

"I'm fine. Maybe I'm just not used to this kind of job so I wear off that fast. Don't worry I'll live."

I heard him chuckle on the other line. I would love to tell him all about my frustration but I know that now is not the time. Besides. I told him I'm gonna drop by later so maybe then I'll be able to tell him.

"I'll hung up now. Be careful and don't flirt with your boss." I heard the humor in his voice when he said it. I know he is only joking that's why I didn't take it seriously

"Don't worry Im not desperate." I heard him laugh and then we hung up. So yeah, now I'm back in silence. Alone in this fully furnished Hell.
