Chapter 14

After setting Winry up at the cabin I was on my way. I had heard (well, more like eavesdropped) that Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, was missing.

'Ed, why do you have to make my job more difficult than it already is?' I thought to myself as I boarded yet another train. I'll start at Northern Command Center and work my down from there.

I had a bit of an advantage with my 'sight'

You see, ever since I met the Elric brothers I started to develop my transmutation circles. I trained to see farther and farther each time, so soon enough I was able to cover almost the entire base if I tried. And that was covering all of the many levels and everything!

I got off the beloved train and walked to an alleyway. I fired up my sight and tried reaching out as far as I could go. I felt for any familiar people and I got nothing.

Next I just listened around for the last place he was seen, I would go and scan there next. And after a couple hours of this I cracked down on a couple possible locations.

I spent the next two days just wandering and picking up on things. Soon enough I sensed something.

'What the hell?! That's one of Kimblee's chimera!' I started to walk faster. I picked up on the other one, and then Ed.

'Damn it! Do they have him hostage?' I started to growl a bit. I reached the flat I felt they were in and snuck around a bit. Apparently, this is a sort of hospital.

'I don't feel any distressed emotions coming from inside. Everything seems normal.' I thought to myself.

I walked up to the door and knocked. Knocking never did me wrong before, don't let it now.

One of the chimera opened the door. I tilted my head up at him.

"...."

"...."

"Ed, your girlfriends here to see you!"

That, my friend, was a mistake. It ended with the chimera on the floor, curled up in a ball, holding himself where the sun don't shine.

There was no hesitation in those actions.

I walked to where I sensed Ed. The other chimera grabbed my arm and stopped my from going further.

I just turned around slowly, and smiled dangerously.

Needless to say he let me go after a swift, hard kick to the shin.

"Hey Ed," I say nonchalantly as if I didn't just take down two giant chimera.
"Did they hurt you?" I say sitting on the edge of his bed.

"Er, no?" He says, intimated.
"Good, Winry is safe by the way." I say to him.
"What? How?" He asks quickly.
"I hid her, told her to stay low until I come get her. I told her to only come with someone if they had this-" I say, pulling out a piece of cloth with stitching on it.

"It's mine, don't loose it." I say, handing it to him. I whispered where she was in his ear, his hair brushing against my face as I did so.

We talked for a bit, and I was informed about how Ed was, you know, slightly IMPALED!!

After that freak out I was hit with a wave of tiredness, I had spent the last four days traveling by train and walking on foot nonstop with hardly any breaks. I can go a long time without sleeping but a girls gotta have a nap every once in awhile.

I yawned blinked my eyes slowly.

"I haven't slept in three days." I told Ed.
"Is there another bed?" I ask him.

"No, even the couch is taken." He answers, scooting over to one side.

I groan, "Can't I just sleep in here? I'm done with walking and I'm not comfortable leaving you with these morons." I say, gesturing to the two chimera still recovering from there injuries I inflicted earlier.

Ed blushed, but you couldn't see so you just waited for his answer.

'I can't just kick her out, and I'm kind of scared what she might do if I do.' He thought to himself. Yep, she's staying.

I crawled onto my side of the bed, not even bothering to change as I kick my boots off. I felt Ed stiffen and I moved away from his side, thinking it was his injury. Yes, I do like Ed, but our relationship is strictly platonic. And he doesn't even feel the same, right?

Being on his left side I'm not next to his automail, so I ended up scooting closer to the warmth of his body. I fell asleep as my head hit the pillow, and Ed's arm found its way around me. I snuggled closer into him and put my hand around him, even in sleep being careful of his wound.

I slept soundly, not a dream nor nightmare. And a soft smile on my face, as if for the first time in a long time, I felt safe, in the arms of my best friend.

Ed's POV

I heard a knock on the door and someone answered.

"Ed, your girlfriends here to see you!" I heard gorilla man shout. Followed by a crash and some whimpering.

'It was (Y/N)! She was here! And they think she's my girlfriend!!!' I panic to myself and my heart beats faster. I hear another crash and then I see (Y/N) standing in the doorway.

She greets me and sits on my bed. She took care of Winry and now she's here.

"This is mine, don't loose it." She says handing me a small piece of fabric with designs on it. I take it and put it on my bedside table to put it away later.

I notice her eyes drooping and she yawned, stretching her arms down as she did so in a really cute fashio- STOP IT!!!' I thought.

'She doesn't like you that way remember? Don't be all weird Ed-' my internal monologue was interrupted by (Y/N). Saying how she stayed up for an alarming amount of time.

She somehow ended up under the blanket beside me and falling asleep.

'What. Just. Happened.' My entire face turned pink and it took all my strength not to move. We had slept in the same room before, and we never really shied away from physical contact.

But still

She snuggled in closer and sighed in her sleep. My heart almost stopped from cuteness attack right there. Without thinking I put my arm around her shoulders, bringing her closer.

I glance up and see all three of my housemates looking at us from the doorway. They snickered.

"Shhhhhh-" I motioned to (Y/N) remembering what happened the last time I woke her up.

"You do not want to wake her up." I whispered to them and pulled her even closer, almost protectively. They seemed to understand, and backed away.

I felt my eyelids get heavier until I finally fall asleep. And I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
