Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I heard the steady sound of a heart monitor. My eyes rolled around behind closed eyelids.

Something was different.

Way different.

I tried opening my eyes but was hit with a bright light.

My mind was swirling with thoughts until they landed on one.

'I. Saw. Light.'

I tried again. I forced my eyes open and took in everything.

It was like the world was moving in slow motion.

I was in a hospital bed. The steady beeping of the monitor was getting faster.

I did the only rational thing that anyone would do in my position.

I screamed.

Several footsteps filled the hallway. I only registered one.

They were uneven. Like one leg was made of metal.

A boy with golden hair wearing a bright red jacket burst into the room. Followed by several doctors and nurses.

I just stared at him for what seemed like hours.

"Edward?" I ask in a whisper.

Everyone in the room froze.

Tears were pouring out of both of our eyes now. I saw him nod frantically, unable to use his voice.

I covered my mouth with my hands and he walked towards me.

I was embraced in a hug and returned it full force. He was careful with my injuries as we just held each other.

It was like that for awhile. Nobody spoke, nobody moved.

I released him and looked into his eyes.

"You are more beautiful than I ever could've imagined." I whispered and pulled him to my lips.

We pulled apart, he was blushing furiously and I was just smiling.

Over the next few days Ed told me everything that happened over the two weeks I was out. How he could no longer do alchemy, and how he traded it for Al's body and my sight.

Most importantly, he told me that he loved me. And I loved him too.

We started dating a few weeks after that.

Ed really had his hands full with both Alphonse and me to look after, since I had a shattered leg and was not going to be walking anytime soon.

I spent most of my days trying to get used to seeing everything. It's still hard to get the correct correlation between seeing something, and it actually being there.

The recovery wasn't seamless, but nothing really is.

I sent someone for Winry. And she got home safely. We were planning to move to Resimbol for my and Al's recovery.

"I still don't see why you have to come with us, Major." I told the brother of General Armstrong.

Ed, Al, and I were on a train to Resimbol. We were going to stay with Winry and Pinako until we could find a more permanent place.

We got the usual Alex Louise Armstrong response, shirtless and all.

I just sighed.

"Major Armstrong. You do realize I was trained in combat by your sister, right? Even though I am in a wheelchair, I will not hesitate to cause you bodily harm. Please put your shirt back on." I said sweetly as I cracked my knuckles.

He put his shirt on and sat down quickly. I know how to make people do what I want.

"Hey babe?" I turned to Ed.

"Yes Ma'am?" He said saluted nervously. I just giggled at his behavior.

"Can you hold me? I want cuddles." I asked him as I lifted my arms towards him like a child.

He smiled and lifted my out of my wheelchair and sat me on his lap. I wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my head on his shoulder.

"It's crazy how you can go from terrifying to adorable in 3 seconds." I heard Al chuckle.

I just hummed into Ed's shoulder and closed my eyes.

I was happy. Truly happy.

I had an amazing boyfriend and family. I had amazing friends. I could see, still can't believe that one.

And it's just peaceful. No homunculus, no bad guys.

Just Me, Ed, and the beautiful world.

Yeah, this is a happy ending.
