Their Saving Grace {One Direction AU}

Chapter 7

El came over right away.Since it was middle of July and she didn't start teaching till the end of August. Eleanor taught 2nd grade, and took after her mothers job.

I smiled when I heard a knock on the door. Niall had greeted El at the door. They gave each other a friendly hug.

"LiLiam that's the wo-man that taught us shapes and numbers." Riley told me patting my arm.

"I think she's talking about my mother. She told me stories when she got to teach two hybrids for a day."

"Well, I better get going before I'm late for UNI." I said my goodbyes and left for school.

Eleanors POV

"El-Eleanor mother taught Ri-Riley and Al-Alice?"

I nodded yes. "What do you want to learn first?"

"Al-Alice wants to learn shapes." The brunette said.

"Okay. I'm going to draw a shape and then I'm going to see if you remember it." I drew a circle, triangle, and a square on a dry-erase board I brought.

"That's a tri-triangle." The girls both pointed at the triangle.

"Just like ears." The red head said. I made a small laugh.

"What other shape do you remember?" The gave me a look like 'We only know triangle, nothing else.'

I pointed to the circle and told them the name of the shape. I did the same with the square. Once they learned the easiest shapes, I taught them a little bit harder ones like rectangles, oval, and a diamond.

I gave them each a blank sheet of paper and pencil. I told them to draw the shapes they learned and tell me what they were.

Liam called around lunch time to check up on the girls. "they're eating lunch right now Li."

"I'm just worried right now."

" Don't be I've got it under control." I smiled.

"Well I better get back to work before my boss yells at me." I hung up with a goodbye.

I cleaned the table off, when the girls were finished. I went ahead and washed the dishes also.

When I was finished, I went into the living room. Niall was watching the telly- of course- and the girls were fast asleep on the sofa. I would be too after a long day of learning.

*Monday*

Liam's POV

Monday morning I headed to my new job. I left Riley and Alice with Eleanor again. Thursday night, when I got home, they showed me they knew their shapes now. El had taught them how to draw the shapes.

The pictures looked like 4 year old's drew them, but I loved them. I hung on our fridge.

"Mr. Payne, you're here a couple minutes early." My boss Bill Smith greeted me.

"I like to be early sir. It's better than being late, on the first day."

"That's what we like to see."

"Now if you follow me, I'll be showing you want to do till you recover." I followed Bill into an office.

He told me to sort paper into two piles: Accepted and declined. Whatever that meant. Bill told me a loud annoying bell will go off for an hour lunch break. The same bell will go off after the hour is up. It would also ring at 5 saying the day was over.

I took me all morning to sort half of the paper, by lunch. Jack- my other boss here- came into room telling me it was lunch.

I walked into the break room, with my lunch. I notice one of the workers with a red beanie on. He was sitting alone. I decided to sit next to him to be nice.

He looked up from his food and growled at me. He wouldn't stop and it confused me.

"Hey newbie!" A worker called to me. "I wouldn't sit there if I were you!"

I didn't budge from my sit. The guy with the beanie continued to growl at me.

"Seriously man!" The same worker yelled at me. Then, I felt some on wrap their arms around me. They picked me up out of my sit and took me to another table.

"Hey, what was that for?" I asked

"Mate, I know you're new and all, but when its break don't sit with Tomlinson." The worker said.

"Why?"

"Well, ever since his mother kicked him out of the house a year ago and ever since his girlfriend broke up with him, for another man, a year ago also. He's been rude and disrespectful to everyone here, it's bad." He said.

"We even tried talking to him and all he did was growl at us." Another worker said.

I couldn't think of anything to say. The two guys left, but before they could, I asked what their names were. One of them was Chris, he had blonde hair and brown eyes, tall and muscular. The other one was David he had black hair and brown eyes, short and little chubby. I told them my name and they welcomed me to the job.

Work had ended, and I'd finally returned home. I took the bus home and by the time I reached the flat door it started poring.

"I'm home!" I yelled through the flat. Nothing, not even a peep.

"Riley, Alice, Niall, El!" I tried yelling again. I walked into the kitchen and found a note. It read:

' Took the girls out for new clothing. Niall tagged along. Don't worry I found two beanies to cover up their ears. After shopping I'm' going to take them to my place to freshen up and I'll bring them home around 7 or 8.

"Great now I'm home alone!"

I decided to watch the telly.I barely got to watch the show when a knock came from the door. I got up to answer it. I saw a red beanie and instantly I knew it was Tomlinson.

"Hello?"I greeted him.

"Hi I was wondering if I could come in? My car broke down in front of your flat. I would fix it but since its raining I'm not going to. " He said.

"Ummmmm. Sure." I stepped aside so he could come in.

"Thank you." I closed the door behind him. "Wait aren't you the new employee?"

"Yeah, why?" I lead him inside the flat more and to the couch.

"Just asking and I'm sorry what happened at lunch. I don't mean to growl at people. He said sitting on the couch.

"The guys at work say that you do that because of your mum kicking you out and your girlfriend breaking up with you."I sat in the chair.

"Girlfriend part is true. I moved out of my parents house a long time ago. I don't know where they got that at. Anyhow, I've tried getting over growling at people, but reason why I growled was because you smell like a cat."

"Well I don't have any cats."

"It smell like cats in her. Are you sure."

"Yes I'm sure.... Wait did you say that you could smell a cat in her?"

"No! I said I'm allergic but it wont affect me unless I touch it." I could tell min his voice that he was lying. What a bad liar.

We sat in silent for a few minutes.

"So whats your name?" He asked.

"Liam Payne."

"Hi, Liam, I'm Louis Tomlinson."
