Chapter 14

**Liam**

"Do you work today?" Niall asked me, as I walked into the living room. I opened my mouth to talk, only to have nothing come out. I scrunched my nose up, before trying to talk again, a soft scratchy tone coming out. Niall looked at me with his head cocked to the side in confusion. "Are you okay, mate?" He asked. I tried replying, the same tone coming out. This time, I grabbed my throat, a scratchy pain shooting down my spine. I crossed my arms, frustrated.

"You lost your voice?" He said, causing me to nod. Alice's ears perked up, before she poked Niall's arm repeatedly.

"Lo-Lost voice? Just like Prin-princess Ar-Ariel!" She said, comparing me to the Disney movie. I smiled, shrugging my shoulders, causing Niall to chuckle at her.

"Almost, Ali. Liam didn't sign over his voice to a sea witch, though. He might be coming down with a cold." Niall explained to the brunette. I nodded, before heading into the kitchen, searching for the dry erase we kept handy. After searching high and low for it, I finally found it in the drawer closest to the fridge. Once I grabbed the marker, I turned around, only to run into Riley, her falling backwards onto the floor.

"Th-thanks Liam." She mumbled under her breath. I opened my mouth to say something, but sighed, before I helped her off the floor. Once she was off the floor, she looked at me, a confused look on her face, before walking into the living room and siting beside Alice, where she explained to Riley that I had lost my voice and it wasn't because of a sea witch. I smiled, before grabbing the board and uncapping the marker.

'What do you guys want for breakfast' I wrote on the board, showing it to Niall and the girls.

Niall shrugged his shoulders, before asking the girls the same thing, knowing that they probably can't read my crappy, chicken scratch handwriting. Both girls just shrugged, causing me to shake my head.

'Pancakes?' I wrote.

Niall nodded his head, answering for all three of them.

This is going to be a long day.

"Hello princess, how's school?" I said, as i heard Eleanor laugh from the other end.

"It's going," She said. "How's life?"

"It would be a whole lot better if you would let me take you out tonight." I replied, as I gave Alice and Riley their lunch. Liam was at work at the record shop, which honestly shocked me that they didn't send him home, due to the fact that he looked like complete shit before he left.

"Oh really?" She said, slightly amused. "You think that being cheesy will get you a date?"

"I dunno. Is it working?" I asked, a smile on my face. I heard Riley and Alice laugh at me, causing me to stick my tongue out at them.

"Yeah, it worked. Your Irish charm and cheesiness has gotten you a date." She replied.

"Awesome. Pick you up at seven?"

"It's a date," She agreed, as the sound of a school bell rung in the background. "I gotta go. Recess is over. Bye Niall." With that, she hung up. I put my phone on the counter, before staring at the girls. They both had wide smiles on their faces, making me curious.

"What are you two smiling about?"

"Niall likes Eleanor." Alice stated.

"Very mu-much." Riley added. I made a weird face at them, shrugged my shoulders, and sat beside them at the table. As I took a bit of the food I made for us three, I started to think of how Liam could've possibly gotten sick.
