My Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 55

"Baby, we gotta go." Santo yells from the living room.

"I'm tying my shoes!" I yell back.

Santo comes in the room, grabbing his phone off the dresser.

"I don't want to get caught in traffic." He mutters.

I stand up, going over to him. I peck his lips. "We're not gonna."

"If you say so, birthday girl."

"Well then, yes, I say so." I smile.

"Happy birthday."

I smile at him. He woke me up this morning after he made breakfast. Then told me we're gonna go see my grandma today. He got me a necklace for my birthday, which I'm wearing. He said I can't have the rest of the gifts until later.

"What time did you say would be there at?" I ask.

"Around three." Santo answers.

"I'm so excited!" I cheese.

"Are you ready?" He asks, and I nod. "Alright, lets go then."

Santo grabs my hand and we walk to the living room, Des is in her car seat, buckled up and sleeping. Kaden fell back asleep on the couch. It's seven in the morning, they're tired.

It only takes about two hours to get to my grandma's house, but we also have a few other stops to make.

"I gotta go the bank first." Santo tells me.

"Mkay." I reply, laying my head on him.

He puts one arm around me, holding my hand. "Are we still stopping by Ray and them's before we go?"

"How long is it gonna take?" He asks me.

"I'm not sure. You'll be okay though, just don't talk to him." I laugh a little. Santo will not talk to my brother, or any of them. He'll talk to Meila, but no one else, he's still mad at all of them. Except Craig, he talks to Craig some times. But Ray, Jacob, Nessa and Kay, he won't.

Santo doesn't have a problem with Craig and CeCe because they were out of town when Jacob and Kay got married, they didn't even know.

Santo got some money out of his account when we got to the bank, then we headed to Ray's house.

"Come on, ma." Santo says, holding his hand out for me. I took it and he helped me out. Then we got the kids.

I hold Kaden and Santo gets Des' car seat.

Ray hugs me when we walk in, I hug him with my free arm.

I hoist Kaden up a bit higher and hug Nessa.

Santo ignores Ray and Jacob, dapping Craig instead. "Wassup, man?" Craig asks.

CeCe was down here because she has a break from school. "Hey, CeCe." I smile, bringing her into a hug. Santo does the same next.

"What's up, Santo?" Ray asks.

Santo, being petty, pretends he didn't even hear him. "Babe." I cut my eyes.

"Yes, love?" He cheeses, getting Des out the car seat.

"Childish." I mutter quietly.

"That wasn't childish." He shrugs.

I roll my eyes at him. He pulls me closer with his free hand. "I'm gonna go get the bag and then we can go."

I follow Ray and Nessa upstairs, Santo stays downstairs with Craig and CeCe.
