-Two Years Later-
"Go, before you're late." I laugh, kissing Santo's lips again.
"I haven't missed any days since I've started. I think I can stay home today." He pulls me closer. "Besides, you don't feel good, Xavier doesn't feel good either, I have to stay and take care of you guys."
"What are you supposed to be doing today?" I ask.
"I only have three classes today. There is a lecture in one, studying for a test in the other and watching some movie in the third." He answers.
"You'll get the notes from someone else?" I ask.
"Yes, baby." He nods.
"Okay." I give in, causing him to smile.
He immediately changes into some sweatpants and a tank top.
"Mama, open please." Xavier holds up his bag of candy.
I open it up, then hand it back to him. "Can you see if daddy is sleeping?"
"Yes, mommy." He nods, walking to the stairs. He crawls up them, then disappears into the hallway.
"Dada!" I hear him yell, and I start laughing.
Soon enough, Santo is walking downstairs with Xavier in his arms. "What'd you need, mama?" He asks.
"Nothing." I shrug. "I was just wondering if you were asleep."
"Nope. Just playing the game." He kisses my cheek.
"Oh. Do you want to go get lunch? I don't feel like cooking." I pout.
"Yes, baby. Do you want to go with me?"
"I guess." I nod, putting my slippers on.
We get Xavier dressed in something warmer and then head to Chres' truck, since he's driving. He still has the same truck, but he takes good care of it, so it looks and drives like a brand new car.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Arby's." I answer. I'm really craving them right now.
"Okay, baby." He lifts our intertwined hands, kissing the back of mine.
We head to Arby's and decide to eat inside, just so we weren't sitting around the house. I was wearing Chres' shirt, some grey sweats and my slippers. Chres was still in sweats and his tank top. Xavier was in his onesie.
"What do you want, babe?" Santo asks, as we wait in the fairly short line.
"The buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich, two buffalo chicken sliders, curly fries and an apple turnover." I answer.
"Soda or milkshake?"
"Milkshake." I answer.
"He'll eat the kids meal chicken tenders and fries, right?"
"Yes, baby." I nod.
Santo ends up getting the same thing I did and we get Xavier a vanilla milkshake as well.
As we eat our food, I notice a group of girls who continue to take glances at my husband every five seconds.
"Baby, gimme kisses." I tell him.
He leans across the table, pecking my lips a few times before giving me a quick kiss. Xavier was right there.
"I love you, Jazmine."
