Within the next two chapters, there will be a time skip to after they get out of college, no that isn't the twist I was talking about. That'll be in three-four chapters, maybe in five chapters.

"We just wanted to say, it's Christmas, we don't want any tension, could we at least pretend to get along?"

"Of course. I have nothing to hold against you. I'm a married woman, a mother, the past is behind me."

"So, we're cool?" My mother asks.

"No, no we are not. The things you have done are unforgivable, but because being angry only brings me down, I forgive you. I want nothing to do with you, but I forgive you nonetheless." I shake my head.

"That makes no sense." My mother groans.

"I won't hold hate in my heart for you or him, because that brings me down. I'll go about my life pretending not to know either of you, and I expect you to do the same." I tell them.

"Seriously, that's unbelievable." My mother gaps.

"No, it is not. What's unbelievable is the fact that you faked your death, pretended to poison my child, kidnapped her for two years, showed up to give her back, disrespected me, and then came around again to disrespect. As you can see, it's not the best relationship, I won't be taking part of it anymore, from now on, I am no longer your child. Please do not worry about me, and I will not worry about you. Merry Christmas, Mister and Mrs. Lopez." I stand from the chair, Santo doing the same.

"I've never seen you like that before. You looked her in the eye, stood your ground, sat straight up, you handled it like a grown woman. I'm proud of you, baby." He smiles, wrapping his arm around my waist. "And thank you for letting me be there."

"Well, I am a grown woman. And thank you for going with me. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it." I admit.

"You can do anything, you're a strong, young woman. I love you."

"I love you more." I smile, pecking his lips.

"That." He pecks my lips. "Is." He pecks them again. "A." And again. "Lie."

"Mm, not it's not." I say, wrapping my arms around him.

We hang around Ray's for a while, until seven, then we have to head home. My parents left me alone like I told them to, which I'm sure everyone was happy about. It's less drama when they don't talk to me.

Castaway by 5 Seconds Of Summer blares through my speakers as I clean up the living room. I pick up more and more toys, tossing them in the laundry basket. "Cause you walked out and left me stranded," I sing along, "Nothing left but picture frames, and I just keep asking myself"
