Chapter 16: Its Go Time

I glanced at the alarm clock with its glowing red numbers. 2:48. Its go time. Making sure Daniel was asleep I tiptoed down the stairs careful not to make to much noise. Wait hold up. I stopped at the 7th step. I prayed to god to give me strength and let me return home. Okay. We can't wait any longer I thought. Its go time. I needed something to protect me. I grabbed a tattered old brown umbrella and a kitchen knife. I took a deep breath shaking. I slowly turned the lock. The door creaked. I cringed. After about 2 minutes I decided he was still asleep. Quietly I ran like a naked jaybird over to the gate. So far so good. I didn't know how to get over the gate. I couldn't climb a tree and jump. I'd break everysingle bone in my body. If I tried to bang through I'd draw attention to myself. If I climbed over I'd scratch my self up. Hmm... Which Is Worse A. Breaking all my bones, B. No chance of escaping, C. Scratching up my body. Guess I'd go with plan C. I climbed over the wires cutting my skin. I almost screamed when my arm got a ginormous cut. I finally made it over the fence! I WAS GOING HOME! I did my little happy dance. Then I ran. "Don't run with knifes." my mother always said. I tucked the knife in the umbrella. Oh well. Then I ran like a jackrabbit. It was so cold. It's a good thing I left when I  did cause the sun was rising. Which way was home? I didn't know so I kept walking forward. I stumbled on a rose bush busting my lip open. Just great. I moaned in pain. Somewhere a few miles away I heard a faint "SANDY!" Oh no. No! No no NO! This could not be happening. Not now! I was so close! I ran. Ran and ran and ran. I stopped to catch my breath and looked around. No sign of Daniel. Maybe he'd gone the other way. I heard a rumble. A MOTORCYCLE! I ran towards the sound. "HELP!" I said screaming.
