His name was Brian Hugh Warner. He had grown up as an only child. He was very attached to his mother who passed away and he was never very close to his father. He had gone to a private school but was kicked out and then bullied really bad in a public high school. So bad that it changed him as a person. Evie wanted to hear more but knew he wouldn't tell her anything else until she brought him fresh blood. At least what he told her gave her some kind of base on how his life was and a hint as to why he was like this now. It felt great for her to know he would trust her with these long hidden secrets and stories. She tried to hide a small smile that threatened to come out but it turned quickly when Evie heard the woman waking up in the corner. "That's all you'll hear until you do me another favor." He said, his tone changing from a sad reminisce back to his bitter hardened self.
He stood up walking towards the woman. She screamed and cowered as he roughly jerked her up and led her into the darkness. Evie stood up to follow even though she didn't know if she should. When she entered the room she was terrified to see the bodies of the six cops and their dogs in a pile on the floor. The woman screamed again and Marilyn hit her hard in the face. Evie rushed forward stepping between them.
"Shhh!" She shushed the woman. "If you don't scream he won't hit you." She said kneeling down. Marilyn watched unapproving at her kindness. To him the woman was just another thing with blood to drink.
"I'm gonna have to bury those." He said motioning to the bodies. Evie just watched as he drug the first body out of the cave.
"I'm so sorry." She said, smoothing the woman's blonde hair out of her face.
"You knew about it didn't you?" The woman whispered. She was pale and Evie knew what she was feeling at that moment.
               "Yeah." She said quietly.
"Why won't you call the cops or something. You were home you could've done something." The woman said starting to cry.
"I'm sorry but I can't do that. I just can't you would never understand. No one would understand him I just need more time." Evie felt like crying herself. Marilyn buried one after another until finally they were all buried. Evie still sat with the woman trying to keep her quiet. She slowly got up and went outside where Marilyn stood panting and sweating as he stared at the large mass grave. Evie took the cup that she'd drank out of down the the creek and filled it with cold water, carrying it up to him. He took it and drank without thanking her. "What are we gonna do?" Evie asked thinking that if more cops showed up and went missing that things would only get worse.
"Kill until they stop." He growled.
"You should let me clean your wound." Evie suggested. When he didn't respond she got more water from the creek and took it back to where he stood and slipped his shirt up to look at the gun shot wound. It was matted with dried blood and she was terrified that it would get infected. He flinched a little as she tried to clean the blood off with a piece of her shirt that she'd torn off. "There's just gonna be more. The military will get involved eventually and then what?" Evie asked. "We can't hold them off forever."
"What's do you mean we? I know what you're planning to do." Marilyn said, voice low.
"What leave? I'm not going anywhere. I'll prove it to you somehow. Why would I still be killing people and coming up with lies to tell my mother to buy you time?" Evie asked. Storm clouds were forming in the sky over their heads. Evie could see their massive black forms through the tangled tree limbs. "Maybe we should go inside and get the cleaned up." She sighed pointing at his wound. She started back up the hill and into the cave, Marilyn following along behind her. He sat down and Evie sat down beside him gently cleaning the blood that had started up again. She kept glancing at his face for any sign of emotion but there was nothing. Just a blank stare into the recesses of the cave. "This deserves another story." Evie said smiling a little at her joke but he didn't even look at her. She wondered what was on his mind. She took another strip of her shirt and gently wrapped it around his waist. "That should do until I can get some medicine from my house." She said before gently kissing his forehead. His eyes moved to her as she smiled at him. He was really tense and Evie felt bad for him. He didn't even know how to react.
The rain started pouring down outside in sheets. Evie could feel the cool air blowing gently through the caves opening and she felt a wave of exhaustion sweep over her. The last week had been too much. She'd never done anything exciting in her life and now all this? Marilyn's friend came out of the darkness of the cave, moving close to Evie, laying his head against her chest. She was frightened at first but then put her arms around him as the rain came down outside.
Marilyn watched from across the vacant fire pit. Evie watched his face as he stared out of the cave entrance and felt the strongest need to protect him. It was one man against thousands. How would he ever make it like that? He looked so perfect and innocent. Evie realized she would do whatever it took to keep him safe. Even if it meant that she would die. She just couldn't let him down.
